2007 Toyota Corolla.

This looks more like a testing mule. Most of the car looks like the current model.
But the front doesn’t…

It should be revealed in August.

  1. “Yawn. I don’t know why these things sell.”

And it’s unlikely you will understand why they sell, even thought you answered your own question.

*Specifically* because the Corolla is reliable, is a quality vehicle with good economy, has inoffensive yet handsome styling, and is a very well known marque, that is why it sells.

That photo is definitely a test mule, likely testing the new 1.8L engine.

Where did you hear though it will debut in August? From what I was told the next Corolla wouldn’t debut until next year.

  2. No, I don’t know why they sell. They are miserable vehicles. And I have yet to hear a five year old Corolla that doesn’t sound like it has marbles in the engine. Yes, I’m biased. Because, not once but two times in two different vehicles, Corollas have left me stranded. The only other cars to leave me stranded was a Hyundai and TR6. Could it be that I’m the only one on earth that has witnessed such garbage from Toyota? Am I the only one ever that has witnessed lawnmower style NVH? The Corolla is a line of cars that is only able to claim they are “quality” made because of the name on the trunk. No, I don’t know why these things sell given the better options available today.

  3. In order for you to have been stranded on two different occasions in Corollas, either you’ve owned them yourself or knew someone who did. With that in mind, how can you say that you wonder how these cars sell?

  4. the most boring car ever built
why in hell would you want to be seen driv ing this is beyong me
and remeber kids, the japs don’t care about safety. the metal they use in their cars is aabout half as thick as our good old american steel.
    cobalt, focus anyone?

  5. Douchebag Jones,

The Japs don’t care for safety?

Well then why does the new Civic have standard front, front side and side curtain airbags and ABS on all models. The Focus and Cobalt doesn’t have them as standard features and only available as options or uplevel models.

The Corolla also has much much better reliability than the Focus or Cobalt.

I remind you the earlier Focuses had a ton of recalls.

The interior of the Cobalt is much more plastickier than the Corolla.

Also remember the Cobalts and Focuses only sell because of price not quality.

  6. Oh and Douche…. do try to test out cars before you critize other vehicles.

P.S. Have you ever sat in a Cobalt’s seats? They feel so hard and so low especially in the back seat.

  7. Hey Douchebag, aren’t you embarrassed to point out that the Japanese get the job done with only half the metal of American cars? Let’s see, Honda Civic top rated in safety. Cobalt and Focus not. You’re actually Japanese using reverse psychology aren’t you?

  8. The “backside” look like the existing Corolla Altis in Asian.

Well, if Toyota is really that bad, how come it is selling so well in the world. While the big giants ie GM & Ford is crying, Toyota sale continue to move upward year after year.

    Conclusion??

  9. Everybody knows TOYOTA is the best auto company. Ford and GM can kiss Toyota’s dust as they fly
sales by them. Ok lets talk bout Ford. Lets say the Taurus is decease because of the Camry. The
Camry flew by the Taurus sales so quick that thay couldn’t redesign it. We are not going to even
the bout how the Corolla top the Focus sales every year. Ok so they came out with the Fusion and
I have yet to see one on the road. Also let me add that the Avalon came out a year after the Five
Hundred and I see so many Avalon’s compared to the Five thing. We also will not talk about the
Freestar and Sienna. Do they still make the Freestar might as well say they Windstar because its
the some car. Im not going 2 even go to the SUV’s and Trucks. Let me make my way to GM. G6 where
are they. Cobalt where are they. Malibu where are they. I think thats why i see them all at used
car lots because people switch to Toyota. My mom own a Envoy and its in the shop every week for
something major(and yes she is getting a 07 Camry do you see what I am talking about). Another
example, my step-father own a 2001 Expendition and its at least two recalls on it a year(and he
is getting the new sequioa when it come out if the EXPO last). My dad have a 2001 Toyota Tundra
and if you ask if it ever been to the shop i will say no(and yes he is getting a 07 Tundra).
Ford and GM need to learn from the best. Also why is it that when Ford and GM come with a car its
replacing another car with a new name, because people don’t want to buy that crap. Ford and GM
need to stop making car before they come bankrupt. Also Ford and GM cars remind me of a rental car
or a driving school car. Fords car catch on fire and GM cars all have electronic problems and many
more. I think I’m going 2 wrap this up. TOYOTA’S #1. O yeah in not Asian or am i from china. I’m
right here in Galveston, TX. so I you have something to say step to me.

  10. “Ask someone who owns one”,that’s what the TV commercial states when talking about Toyota quality, but the implied answer is not the one you will get if you do ask someone!!! These Canadian built econo boxes have so many quality problems due to various ‘low bid’ companies manufacturing parts from all over North America and Mexico, the Corolla officially qualifies as top ‘mongrel’ in the automotive industry!!! Americans think just because it says Toyota on the car, it must be from Japan. In reality, there is 0% content from Japan on these vehicles! Just check the parts content sticker on the window of any new Corolla or Camry if you are in doubt!!!

Uh, that’s correct. They DO sell. Not seeing your logic. I’m saying that they’re overrated and the perception of quality isn’t reality.

Don’t be fooled, a corolla is a nicely dressed POS.
I still haven’t figured out why they sell so many camrys and corollas. You would think they would sell more avalons. The avalon is the only nice car from toyota. I’ve drive corollas, their junk. Avalons have always been nice tho.

  13. I said it once before in the post above and i’ll say it again. The only good toyota is a avalon or a new rav4. Toyota builds mediocre vechiles with some what competitive pricing. Thats how they move cars. Toyotas where fantastic when they were built in japan. Most of them now r built in America. Its not the same quality as 6 years ago, trust me. Anyone who thinks toyota is the best is a retard.

  14. Whos that asshole ranting and raving from texas. They say you people are loudmouths from out there. Your post proves it, you make no sense! Hey, if you work for toyota, as your transparancy shows you do, just admit it! Toyota has doubled recalls in the past 2 years, and the Avon or whatever they call their buick is “problematic” in Toyotas own words. Eat that with your steak longhorn!

  15. The new Avalon has had quite a few problems lately. And big ones too, involoving engine, rattles and transmision.
I have to say that right now, I would not recomand the Avalon to anyone looking for a large car.
But other Toyotas are still rated by everybody in the buziness as some of the most reliable cars you can own. (actually, ask any reputable mechanic)
Of course, everybody makes lemons. They just make less than most …

  16. Their cars and suv’s aren’t built in japan anymore. On a camry 75% is made right here in American and the other 25% (probaly the tires and brakes) come from japan. Thats not much considering the amount of parts their are on the car. My girlfirends father is a 6th generation toyota onwer. He just bought a 2005 siena. 90% built right in america, and 10% built in japan. That means the tires and the wiper blades off that thing come from japan. He took the siena in to get the recall fixed and also the rattle in the door. I also forgot to mention that the the van sounds like a POS when you engage the park on a slight incline. Toyotas have such great quality that they are impecable. They use to be but not anymore. Toyota just like Gm will fall later. Everything has its prime. My girl friends father also has a 2000 avalon which i love. That thing has had an O2 senor go, a wiper motor which her father claims to be a GM motor, and also a brake malfunction. He downs me because i have a saturn. But i’ve never had a single problem and its at 106,000. I bought it as a used rental car.

  17. FYI everyone, think about this. With the Avalon problems showing, remember that the new Camry is essentially that car. Also, they are going to build these Camrys at a GM owned Subaru plant. What the Hell kind of mess is starting at Toyota??????????????

  18. The front end of this car matches the drawing of the lime green car vince posted earlier that everyone thought was a facelift for the tC, or the Mercury Mariner or w/e its called.

  19. I dislike their lack of character but at least I am realistic enough to know Toyota will have another hit on its hands. Strange that mules are doing the rounds though: if we are looking at an August release, then I would expect finished prototypes masked with cardboard and cladding to be on the roads. (I actually believe you are right, Vince, when you say August—so hopefully we will have such an image come through soon.)
