2008/09 Honda Fit

Last Updated:

The all new Fit will be offered with a Hybrid version.
Insiders claim the electric motor will be paired with a 995cc 3 cylinder engine.
So far it sounds pretty close to the outgoing Insight.

But they also claim Honda will be able to get close to 90mpg out of this powertrain.
Even if real life numbers are way down, let’s say to around 65 or 70 mpg, this would still be an amazing car.

  1. Honda’s commitment to engineering excelence and the environment is very obvious…this newest version of the Fit should be nothing but AMAZING!

  2. To be honest, I’m not sure if I like the current style of the FIT, but I would take it over any Korean brand in the same segment.
Also, the new FIT seems more promising and it would be nice if it had AWD.

  3. The fit has been coming to my country (Cayman Islands) for a little over 3 years. They are amazing cars, if you can get past the funky look. Very practical and peppy returning phenominal MPG. I like this illustration. Would be interesting to see if it materializes!

  4. I was disappointed that the FIT that was just introduced in the U.S. doesn’t have a seat height adjustment–a glaring mistake in a car with lots of headroom that is wasted.

I understand that the JAZZ (the FIT in Europe) does have a seat height adjustment. I’m surprised Honda made that mistake and hope they correct it in the updated FIT that looks great in the picture here.

  5. This new design seems like a HUGE improvement over the current one. I say that Honda should get it here right away and not wait five years. The FIT that was just introduced in the U.S. is no better looking than an Aveo. It’s newness is going to fade real quickly.

  6. Sold! I think this looks great, and the promise of an affordable hybrid with clever space utilization is extremely appealing. I would trade in my ’01 Civic for this tomorrow.

Hey Honda, give us Americans this new Fit! Please.

I agree with you, but there’s always a seat cushion from AutoZone.

  8. i do like this new redesign fit. the current one looks too much like the suzuki (can’t think of the model right now :))

  9. Honda will succeed again…and GM thinks the Aveo will be able compete as just another rebadged Daewoo?
    Wake up General.

  10. HONDA ITS ALWAYS ON THE TOP. I THINK THE FIT AND THE NEW ACCORD 2008 WIL BE A BIG SURPRISE FOR THE OTHERS

  11. Been hearing about this possibility for years and putting off a new commuter care purchase until this comes out.
Honda, please build this and keep the price reasonable.
Gov Arnold – pass the plan to rebate to hybrid buyers, penalize the SUV/Hummer buyers to compensate!!

  12. Honda has always appealed to buyers with different tastes. The Insight did absolutely nothing for their reputation. The Fit and Fit Sport easily blow away the Yaris, Aveo, Versa, Nitro, HHR, Reno, TDI, and anything else with the same comparable aspects. I think what we’re looking at here is the Insight’s replacement and the new face of competition that has the other manufacturers watching their backs.

  14. Even the image title is named as “Honda Jazz Facelift – 1 & 2″. Move your mouse to the pic and wait for the tooltip to appear. I dont think its an all new Jazz (autoexpress pic). The design looks worse than the current one, especially the rear. The japanese one looks more realistic, but I hope they can ditch the awful smiling Honda grille design.
