Chrysler Imperial for production ???

Last Updated:

That’s what the suits at Daimler/Chrysler are deciding right now.
I say no way.

This is one of the ugliest designs I have seen in years. A caricature of what a large American car should be.
Sure it’s “impressive”. But just because it is big. Not because of the design.
It looks to me like what a 10 year old would come up to if asked to design a big luxury car, in the early 80’s…

Years ago Chrysler came up with stunning concepts that never made it into production. And they’re actually seriously thinking about this one?
A sad story…

It might not look as horrible in this picture, but that is just because of the model’s revealing cleavage.

  1. This design surely needs to be smoothed-out. I would personnally remove the ”in your face” round headlights and replace them with a more conventional design.

The blown-up aspect of this car reminds me of the Rolls-Royce Phantom I saw in person. It looks like a regular car but with every dimension multiplied by 1.5. It will certainly stand-out from the rest of the traffic. Some potential customers for this type of car may be shy to travel in a car that stands out so much…

  2. I’m ‘fraid you answered your own question, Vince. “This is one of the ugliest designs I have seen in years.” __________ OF COURSE THEY WILL! …. and Yes, it does look horrible in that picture, too. CaptionContest? suggestion: Beauty and the _ _ _ _ _

  3. It looks much better in person. Aside from the amateurish headlamp treatment, it’s pretty impressive… in a big Rolls Royce kind of way. The rear is actually very nice. But still, that trucklike front end is a really clumsy design and hopefully the production version will be more artfully drawn.

You must realize, Vince, that you have as much influence in the automotive world as a random fire hydrant in Croatia.

So please, save your assertion for something you actually have control over, like deciding which brand of TV dinner to have later.

  5. Ah, isn’t it great when lonely kids with acne can come here and throw out their assanine comments or cheap-shot insults, then hide behind their Anonymous hats like the pussies they are. Vince, you should really make comments available to registered bloggers only.

  7. Where do they find their “stylists”?
At a crack house? How self-lothing does one need to be to design this.

  8. You are 100% correct.
Exactly what I was thinking at the time.
I have to admit, I have grown to like the 300 (especially after driving it)

So I guess I could change my mind about this, but it would be really hard…
