Still doesn’t really look like a Jaguar to me…

  1. This is a car that would have actually looked better if Jaguar had kept the oval grill from the last S-Type….the one oval-mesh grill from the S-Type R preferably.

  2. I like it more now that you can see the details better. Its a nice design, similar to what lexus has done but with more style. I just can’t see how this will translate into a production model though.

  3. The interior sure doesn’t look much like a jag interior…there’s no wood (from what I can see)….Jags are known for their inviting, warm interiors…this one’s just frigid and lacks any soul….but I guess that’s what it takes to be in contention with the equally (and probably more) frigid german and japanese competitors.

  4. Well the exterior is almost fine as far as being Jag-like… but that sure isn’t a Jag interior… at least not for an S-Type-equivalent… tho guess they could use it for a truck or racecar…

  5. This design is a total departure of Jaguar tradition.
If it was from some Italian firm I can understand the design themes, even American, but this needs to say more Jaguar.

  6. We all know that the entire Jaguar range is in need of modernization, but what’s the point in throwing out the baby with the bath water? Why not use a fresh, modern update of the double headlight theme – in order to keep some vaguely recognizable sense of continuity with the company’s almost unparalleled heritage – instead of totally throwing it out?

Smells like another Ford let’s-be-hot-in-the-next-quarter-and-to-hell-with-the-long-range-consequences strategy to me.

  7. i think it looks very jag, vince. stripping away its british, aristocratic roots and returning to its primal feline form is very welcoming, IMO.

the whole idea is to look like an antithesis of jaguar’s history but still be true to its roots as a builder or high quality, bewelled, classy cars.

    i think it’s stunning.

  8. i can see the wood – the whole center console is made up of black wood, i think. in this picutre, you can see the grain of the wood where the matte finish is reflecting some of the light. at least it looks like wood grain to me. in terms of the interior, i’m really not feelin that neon blue light strip. looks a bit cheap…

overall not very jaguar-esque but i do love the overall shape and proportions. i do think a sharpened version of the current (constantly updated) s-type would better serve sales and tradition. maybe this is a concept of their CLS-niche competitor and the regular sedan will be more in the vein of a traditional jag?

  9. Nice. The back end is a little off though…. I see a lot of Hyundai Accent there or maybe Yaris…. Nope… definetly an F-150 backend…Yup… Im sure of it.

  10. wow! beautiful automobile. that’s what a high end luxury jag should look like. ford/jaguar needs to move away from cars geared at the mass’ and create cars for the few and priveleged. leave the mass’ to lincoln.

  11. ALL,
    STRAIGHT FROM JAGUAR…
THIS IS THE NEW FACE OF JAGUAR. IT WILL BE FIRST AVAILABLE ON THE PROD VERSION OF THIS CAR (ALBEIT ALONGSIDE THE S-TYPE REPLACEMENT).
THIS CAR IS THE CLS FIGHTER, HENCE THE LOW SLUNG/HIDDEN REAR DOOR HANDLES LOOK.
IT IS A JAG VERSION OF THE ASTON MARTIN RAPIDE, JUST A FEW THOUSANDS LESS, OFCOURSE.

X TYPE AND S TYPE WILL GET NEW NAMES.

XJ WILL BE REFRESHED TO LOOK MORE LIKE THE XK

NEW SUVS BASED ON NEXT XC90 AND ITS BABY BROTHER.

NEW 3 SERIES/CLK CONVERT FIGHTER BASED ON NEW X TYPE REPLACEMENT (THINK VOLVO C70)

NEW NAMES COULD INCLUDE: XE XF XV XP

  12. Somehow, except for the front, this says “Infiniti” to me. I don’t know why, it just does.

Andrew your Aston Martin comment clarified what I was having a hard time putting into words.

At first I felt this C-FX would make a sharp Mercedes CLS competitor if more Jaguar heritage were added to the front and tail end. The body is great as is.

Then you mentioned Aston Martin and it hit me.
Without changing anything but badging and the neon, C-FX becomes a more upscale big brother to Aston Martin Rapide.

This car with its bold edgy look and techno interior is a perfect 21st century
    ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA.

Also build a junior version of this same car with a classic Jaguar inspired face and tail and Ford has two hot new models to sell
    in two different segments.

  14. To say this car is beautiful is an understatement. This is a new look of luxury. I am thinking these, although slightly altered, may see the light of day in 2009 or so? Also, what do you think about the starting price of this baby? $75k+ ?
