Vauxhall VXR8

Last Updated:

England could be getting their own version of the Holden Commodore.
Better known here as the 2008 Pontiac G8.
Pretty much the same car.

I am not sure if the market for a V8 large sedan from a non luxury brand even exists in Europe…

  1. This is a bit ricer looking. I have to say that I think the G8 is by far the most attractive and relatively understated.

  2. There may be customers for V8 sedans in Europe but not for an extremely ugly car like this. But on the other hand people buy a Rolls Royce too and that is hard to beat in tasteless design. So the Holden Vauxhall may sell some copies to the poor Englishmen and women not having much choice except some overpriced German competition. Mr Lutz should switch to Hotwheels and help them make their decisions.

Hey Vince, umm, you should read before you post… It was officially introduced to England today…

  4. Vauxhall imported the australian HSV GTO coupe into england with significant success. Although only small numbers were imported the car recieved good press, especially in top gear, and was a good “hero” car for vauxhall. This move in importing HSV cars again, is vauxhalls attemps to continue this sucess with a big boofy V8 muscle car. I think that due to the weak aussie dollar to pound coversion it will be a hit in the UK.

    You are 100% right.
    I never read anything.

Plus, I make sure I drink a lot (Like in too much) before I post anything.
I think it makes the whole site more interesting.

  6. Vince, this is very different from the Pontiac G8.

The G8 is a Commodore SS. The VXR8 is a HSV Clubsport R8.

    The SS/G8 has the L98 270kW/530Nm V8, the Clubsport R8/VXR8 has the LS2 307kW/550Nm V8.

The HSV/VXR also has a different suspension tune, unique interior dials/steering wheel, unique front and read end treatments and most importantly a whole new 4 piston racing brake package that pulls the car up in a shorter distance from 100Km/h than the BMW M5, AMG E55 and the Lambo Gallardo.
