Naked 2008 Accord!
Last Updated:
Both sedan and coupe versions.
And both looking much better than I thought.
the coupe is no big surprise. It was previewed last year with the concept.
but the sedan looks pretty nice, even on these early pictures. And much more upscale than the current model.
And a diesel is coming a year later…
See them all :
Looks nice. An improvement over the current model.
meh.
i’ll wait for the real accord (acura tsx for us local suckers)
Wow, looks a lot better than without the camo tape. 180 hp 2.4 cylinder, that is even better.
The sedan is not bad and see a few designs from
other makes, such as the Infiniti G35 sedan, and BMW
towards the rear. The front looks a little Korean.
The Coupe looks kind of like a cobo of the Scion TC,
BMW 6 series and Jag (rear).
But I would still like to have one if I was looking at mid priced sedans or a little more than what a Civic offers.
Uh-oh, Vince: I hope “you-know-who” doesn’t get her “you-what-whats” in a wad over you posting that pic…
😉
And the Accord will be another Car and Driver 10Best and a commercial success, even though it’s design is thoroughly derivative.
The coupe looks pretty sharp, tho…
Welll…I am not posting the actual picture. Just a small sample and a link to the real photos.
I was told by other sites this was an “accepted practice”.
as usual with honda the coupe looks better than the sedan but i have to say the sedan still is impressing by the way i dont usually like red cars but it looks great on the coupe
thenew taurus looks much better than this small compact for the same price or less
the classy look of the taurus will still looks great 10 yeard s from now
this is pure crap .. again
and ford makes better engine , plus the car has 100 %% better us steel. safer in crash

HUH??? Are you living in the same universe we live in? Ford Taurus looks better than this? Oh and it’s the ford that will stand the test of time??? oh wait, the best one was FORD makes a better engine…
I’m disturbed… For your own safety lay off the crack…
First of all, after a long and hard study of these pictures, it looks like Honda has completely abandoned their traditional resemblance between Accord model changes from past years. Take off the Honda Badges and this new sedan could become a Volkswagon, Hyundai or even a Saturn! Secondly, Why doesn’t Honda put this much needed 180HP 4 cylinder engine in the new CR-V before the 2010 mid model refreshening?
whoa, taurus man, are you kidding?
the taurus looks worse than this, hands down. sounds like you’re living in the 60’s…time to wise up…no?
ford engines = crap
ford = crap
your comment = crap
WOW.. I really really do not like this Accord… Screams VANILLA!!!!
WHERE AND WHEN CAN I SIGN UP?????? Honda has a clear winner with this one. The hard part for me is to get the coupe or sedan and that’s a great debate!
OMG its a camry
The first thing I though when I saw the grill was Dodge. Kind of looks like it is trying to look aggressive the way Dodge Calipers do.
I like the coupe a lot. I like the new sedan way better than the old one even though the front looks like a Sonata, the back a little Aura-ish and the side a little……man I almost said G-35-ish until the Hyundai Genesis popped in my mind for the side. Still it is a very big improvement stylewise over the old one. I’m looking forward to seeing the interior and hearing about the stats. Wow…Honda finally added some fudge sauce to their vanilla icecream.
JM
P.S. As far as D Jones comment is concerned, well I don’t agree, however I do like the size of the Taurus and the fact you can get it with allwheel drive.
Can someone put the tape and camo back on these cars. Please. The Accord sedan’s unoriginal design isn’t all that impressive. It looks like someone grafted an SUVs nose on a passenger car. The coupe does look a little better (though the nose here looks worse), but was obviously dumbed down for production. While the Accord will still sell (old habits die hard), the new Accords coma-inducing looks, Honda’s less than stellar quality as of late and much more attractive competitors may not add up to all good news.
The coupe looks much better than the sedan. The side profile of the sedan is too much like the last gen camry. The front would look more aggressive with a pair of projector lights.
Whoa Vince…That little close-up pic of yours looks like an element with chrome surround!
as expected, the dud of all duds, honda/acura haven’y had a good looking car since the prelude flip up headlight car. this will allow the almighty altima to continue to reign and hold court. the camry, that’s another story, it’s the court jester!
The coupe is hot. Anyone expecting a 4door that much different then the Camary hasn’t been paying attention to the last 3 generations of these competitiors. They both look identicle.
I noticed a fair amount of Aura/LS2 in the tail lights.
HORRIBLE! Bland, unoriginal, cheap, corny. Down right STUPID looking. Honda has the absolute worst styling of any car designer out there….hands down. Mazda now is what Honda used to be. The early 90s designs were far better.
The Accord coupe is racy enough for the young folks and the sedan is classy and surely comfortable for the rest of us. This is exactly what the Accord should be for its huge market.
The Accord’s driving dynamics will be first-rate and it looks better than the Camry which is its strongest competitor.
With respect to the D Jones comment, what do you expect from someone who drives a Monte Carlo and lives in Modesto? Of course, he thinks the “new” Taurus (old Ford 500) is beautiful.
I wonder how much bribe money Ford paid Wards to get their new 3.5 liter engine on Ward top 10 list.
These Accords look better than the current. Should sell a bunch.
Nissan Aprio, shown above is much much much much much prettier
Those are ugly cars. Keep them in Japan. Us Canadians like hatchbacks. Give us our hatchbacks!!!
iQuack, you hit it dead-on! Most Accord buyers care more about how their refrigerator looks than their car! This new Accord looks wonderful and will appeal to many folks who couldn’t find a car-enthusiast website if their life depended on it. Way to go Honda for another home-run for your intended market. Anyone who thinks EVERY car has to appeal to their particular taste is a moron.
Fortunately, this car is not designed for the average age of the readers on this forum – which must be around 12 years old.
People have been ripped off by GM, Ford, Chrysler for so long that they have to settle for boring and reliable. Wish GM would contract out the Camaro build to Honda.
Though the new Accord does look like it was designed by a 12-year-old.
“iQuack, you hit it dead-on! Most Accord buyers care more about how their refrigerator looks than their car! This new Accord looks wonderful and will appeal to many folks who couldn’t find a car-enthusiast website if their life depended on it. “
So what you’re saying is that the new Accord is designed for people who really don’t like to drive, just tool around in a 4-wheeled appliance.
The Accord appeals to people that want great handling and reliability…They dont care what it looks like a long as it is not ugly…This Accord will sell well.
“While the Accord will still sell (old habits die hard), the new Accords coma-inducing looks, Honda’s less than stellar quality as of late and much more attractive competitors may not add up to all good news.”
Have anything to back up your reliability claims? Didn’t think so because they aren’t true. Sorry. State the facts, and not your worthless opinions.

Keep in mind that what looks good is personal taste, while you don’t like it many others do. The Altima is the clear cut winner according to you? Don’t think so, recent comparos as well as public opinion goes against what you are stating. Accord has outsold the Altima.
What we have here is typical immature comments by people who think they know a lot about cars. Looks are subjective, you can’t please everyone. If you are going to post something, please be sure it is fact and not opinion. Do some research.
People dont want great looking cars because the car will just attract entitlement-minded idiots. aka, Publik Skewl Grads and TV Watchers.
I intend on purchasing a new Accord. Compared to the “Rentima” (Altima) whose designers can’t figure out how or where to shove stupid round tail lights into a square box and the lumpy old gereatric Ford 500-Taurus designed to mock a 1955 Fairlane that in my opinion is far more exciting, I will be driving my Accord for many years and still maintain enough looks to have a huge trade in when the next generation comes out.
