Opel Astra glass roof
Last Updated:
Weird looking? Sure…
Hard to clean? Probably….
But it looks fantastic and I’m sure it feels great to drive. This would have been a really cool option on our Saturn version of the Astra.
Something that stands out from the competition.
I forgot to mention it comes with a shade. You can see the railing on the A pillar, inside.
It’s nothing short of spectacular, I hope they offer it here.
A great option for those who want a sun/moon roof, but with out the rust problem that comes with having that option. Why didn’t someone come out with it sooner?
That’s one of the coolest features of the new Astra! Don’t hold your breath seeing it here though……………….the insurance companies already are having apoplexy seeing it, lest it ever gets damaged!
Even though this has 2 doors, I like it better than the fit…the 4 door astra just looks like a cobalt sedan that got the trunk choped off….
I think I have a new realiztic dream car!
But I’m still waiting to see the birth of the Astra red line…
Pretty good gimmick but it wouldn’t fly in the real world. The sun would blind you and you would feel so exposed sitting in a fish bowl.
I would consider buying on. i think the concept is great. Wonder about the safety issues?????
Must be trippy from behind the wheel, but i wonder just how much that windshield would co$t to replace.
Silly. looks like a styling exercise. Imagine driving into the sunset with that setup 🙁

As Vince pointed out, the Astra comes with a shade to prevent what you speak of.
The glass roof isn’t an option I’d want personally, but what a great feature for this class of car. Helps make it stand apart from the crowd.
The women in the photo reminds me of Wonder women flying in her private jet.
LOL! So true.
I’ll stick with my usual powered sun/moon roof (which ever one has the glass)…
A few questions for anyone who might know:
1. Expensive option and expensive to repair when the dump truck drops a bit of gravel in front of you?
2. Must be a strong firewall behind the dash?
3. Crash worthiness? Speaking as someone who hit a cow, the top of the windshield frame was helpful in keeping the beast from crushing me.
4. As in a convertible, frame twisting is partly managed by the firewall, under chassis beefing up, and windshield frame. The glass will have to carry a large part of that load?
