Kia Borrego

Last Updated:

Say goodbye to the Mesa. The new Kia SUV is named the Borrego after all.
It has body on fram construction, V6 and V8 available.

And it doesn’t look nearly as good as the concept they teased us with a couple of years ago.

What else is new…

  1. Is it me – or does it look an AWFUL lot like the redesigned Tribeca? – which looks like any current Chrysler product.

  2. Yeah what happened? They went from copying the Lexus RX with the Sorento to copying the worst parts of the Aspen/Pacifica. Which the last time I checked, one was canned and the other will probably be soon.

  3. Of all the Spanish words Kia could’ve used, they went and used “sheep.”

I’m bilingual, there’s no way I can ever take this model seriously.

  5. Ha ha. This reminds me of when, years ago, the Mitsubishi Pajero was released in Spain; they had to change the name to Montero, because Pajero in Spanish means “wanker”. If they sell this in Spain, they will have to change the name too, because Borrego in Spanish means “lamb”, but also “moron”

  6. where is the sorrento name? did kia have too many problems with it ? are they playing the GM game of name changes to hide poor quality history? I think that toyota is the GM of Japan and kia is that for Korea.

  7. This is not the Sorento replacement…the Borrego and the Sorento are two different models…how many times do we all have to say it?

  8. Definitely bad timing, this will be on sale when it is released. Seems like a big waste of time, money and energy.

Funny, it looks like Kia stole the Pajero/Montero look and is selling it here since the Montero isn’t sold in the U.S. anymore. They even took the billingual name problem too.

I miss the Montero. I’d rather buy a used Montero than this Kia crap suv.

  10. I like Kias and think they make solid cars. If given a chance I’d buy a Borrego. Since I don’t speak Spanish and not in Spain- I really don’t care what it means in any other language. It’s Korean! Now if it was a car company from Spain or Mexico, I’d be worried! I own a Kia and was very skeptical from the beginning and after 71,500 miles and 3 years, it is a great reliable car…
