Crash test orgy.

Let start with a bad one…
A Chinese one….
Another Chinese one…
A cute one…
A familiar one…
Another pretty bad looking one…
Now for the safer Euro version…
Now watch this one .
I mean, really watch what happens to the Mustang windshield that doesn’t happen on other convertibles.
And remember this is at 35mpg.
So people should be ashamed….
Thanks for posting Vince, I love to watch crash tests. One of the most notable thing about cars that do well in the offset is how well the A pillar absorbs the crash. The Accord shows almost no strain at all and performs really well while all the fords showed massive bending of metal …. the f150 is a classic and should be a lesson to someone who buys an older truck thinking it’s safer. And OMFG … the mustang … holy crap … I thought ford had figured safety out by now … what a pos.
You right ford should be real ashamed, there cars suck bad in crash tests, and wouldnt it be funny if the chineese perfect the car safety tests and become the safest cars on the road ? there quick learners and have a desire to be wanted !
I have to say, the first of the two Chinese crash tests you posted (I think it was the Chery A520)really surprised me Vince. The car looked relatively solid – there was little or no visible intrusion into the cabin during the frontal impact, and no buckling of either the sills or the windscreen pillars, proving that Chinese safety standards are coming along in leaps and bounds, at least in terms of structural rigidity.
I take some issue with your posting the US Ford Focus crash test though, as it was a 2000 model, which was more or less identical to the version being sold in Europe at the same time – so trumpeting it as being unsafe while heralding the second generation European Focus as being far safer is really rather unfair.
Well, I’ll always remember to never ride in a Mustang conv. from now on!
You love pickin at ford like they are the only company that has a few bad crash ratings. You should’ve showed the old chevy blazer or venture in these vids you’re posting.
Will never drive in a Mustang Convertible … ever. Not even as a free rental car upgrade which I’ve been offered in the past. That windscreen would mash your head like potatoes.
It is disappointed given that this is the 21st century and Ford and GM are still think they can get away with anything.
i just can’t imagine what’d happen if the Mustang rolls over. Yike!
sure it does kinda look like the mitsubishi i …

The Mustang didn’t score any worse than any of the other cars, with the exception of the SAAB and the Volvo. Also, the tests on the Chinese cars are very fishy considering they performed so bad just a few months ago when tested by European standards. I guess that’s because the tests were done by different facilities

ummm.. or its becuase its DIFFERENT CARS that was tested
I was noticing that Ford has more IIHS Best Pick ratings and 5 Star ratings than any other company making cars. The Mustang convertible gets an acceptable rating from IIHS so obviously you can’t always judge safety from watching a grainy video. The data indicates something else.
at 35 mpg eh? it’s about time that factored economy into crash testing, he he….
“ummm.. or its becuase its DIFFERENT CARS that was tested”
Several Chinese cars that performed very poorly six months ago were retested recently. They performed much better. Which begs the question… Who conducted the tests the second time?
Agree, they look at what happens to the vehicle as well as the impact on the dummy. Just because the car looks better after the crash doesn’t make it safer, I would rather have a mangled car than a mangled body, see the big picture.
