It looks more expensive and better built than the 5 series. It will likely have better reliability as well, so really the only reason to buy a BMW is for the logo, and possibly handling.
HAHA I love the random 5 Series thrown in for comparison!
Is the middle car of the second picture is a 5 series?
Yeah, the middle car sure looks like 5er.
This car may have a Hyundai badge on it but it sure looks like a much nicer car. Much better looking than the new Accord and Lincoln MKZ.
Enough already ! You must be on Hyundai’s payroll.
Genesis…the beginning
At least that’s the tag line from Hyundai’s Genesis website and from the looks of this vehicle it keeps getting better and better.
While I have some reservations about the wisdom of releasing this vehicle with the Hyundai logo, I have to admit this vehicle may put the Hyundai brand on the map.
Depending on how well this vehicle is received and the opinions of the auto press I see Genesis with their own store front within a year or so from now.
It is nice, but better build quality, more expensive looking and better reliability than a BMW? It’s still a freaking Hyundai. You’ve obviously never driven or owned a BMW. Trust me, they make this car look nice, but for the price they will do what they do with all of their other cars and cut corners. A bit of cheap plastic here and less insulation here…yeah, I’m sure BMW is scared! HA HA HA
Gee it’s the new korean game show called spot the difference. By the look of the guys in the second picture it appears to be pretty hard .
…yeah, I’m sure BMW is scared! HA HA HA
Funny, that is exactly what they said when Toyota released the LS400. Now who’s laughing.

Take a test drive when this thing is out and tell me the same, I dare ya!
It’s never going to be a “BMW.” Engineers at competing auto firms have been trying to mimic BMW’s near perfect combo of sport and luxury for years but have still fallen short.
I think the best way to approach this is to see the car for what it is- a nice Hyundai – and not a BMW. Because by setting such high expectations might just take away from an otherwise nice car.

You’re absolutely right.
As for what some of you other guys are saying – do you really have something against a car company building the best car THEY can build? Maybe it’s not so much the possibility that the Genesis will be a threat to BMW but a threat to YOU. I mean – what if the new Genesis really is a great car? Just how are you going to continue to justify paying the ‘big bucks’ for a ‘badge’? [You ARE buying those BMW’s you keep bragging about – aren’t you? I mean – it’s not just TALK – is it?!]
I hope the Genesis is a wonderful car that sells like hot-cakes. Just look at the postive effect the LS400 had on ALL luxury cars. Maybe a really good Genesis will make for some really impressive Buicks or Chryslers. Who knows.
Craig!! :o)
It is starting to look better and better each day i cannot wait to buy one of these.

you’re obviously a shill. or you’re completely high.

Considering BMWs strong sales, I’d say BMW has had a good laugh or two. As far as the Genesis, enough already.

You really sound bored. Maybe you should skip this thread and check out the Subaru Forester.
Back to the Genesis: This is one of the most impressive vehicles to come from this manufacturer in a decade and it has the competitive mechanicals of well known elite premium vehicles at near premium pricing.
If this vehicle lives up to the hype it will be an incredible value indeed.

Well lets put it like this…. if Hyundai can build a car that is comparable to the 5 series and LS for less money and perform just as well or better, guess what I’d buy?
