Who the hell is running the show over there???

  1. I think Honda has just plain given up on design. They peaked with the S2000 but everything after that (Ridgeline, Element, CR-V, Accord, Civic, MDX, Pilot) has just plain sucked in the looks department.

  2. Hello Acura, this is Saturn….have you seen the grille from our Vue ?….it seems to have gone missing….

  3. This is what happens when GM fires bad designers and they get jobs at Honda/Acura. Don’t believe me? Do some research, that’s where Honda got the “new designers” from. Ever notice all the new products from GM are better now? This is why!

  4. Hey, Look on the Bright Side! When Honda does its mid model freshening on the CR-V for 2010 at least it will look normal with this new grille over the current Goofy Smile!

  5. About a week ago I was at a Honda dealership. I looked at and sat in the all-new Accord. I actually stared at it for a good 10 minutes or so. And while doing so – I kept thinking to myself, “Somethings just not right!!” I can’t quite put my finger on it – but the new Accord looks like the result of an argument. The updated RL – on the other hand – looks like the result of a fight. I don’t know if that makes sense – but that’s the best way I can describe it. I appreciate Honda’s desire to move away from ‘bland’ – but there’s a right way to do it and a wrong way. And both the Accord and the RL are good examples of the ‘wrong way’. The Cadillac CTS is a dramatic looking car. But it ‘works’. There is a flow to it that makes sense. The Accord and RL just don’t ‘flow’. One line seems to clash with another and then another. Take a look at where the hood on the RL meets with top of the grill. Why isn’t that line even with the top of the headlights? It just doesn’t makes any sense. So now I’m concerned. Just what are the updated TSX and TL going to look like?! Craig!! :o)

  6. I’ve seen one positive comment on this grill on the net. There is an Acura forum I frequent and the RL owners have a thread about this new grill. The vote was 280 ugly’s to 1 nice looking.

Doesn’t Acura do focus groups? I know it’s aimed at the older populations, but, last I checked, the blind are not allowed to drive!

  7. The end of Honda design! And I thought the new MDX had a weird front end! I love the interiors and the engines…but…

This looks so terribly low-end I think they’re going to kill the RL in 2011 when the sales drop like rocks. It should do well as the Honda Legend everywhere else, where it isn’t marketed as a luxury brand.

If they don’t get their act together, Honda will drop the Acura RL from the North American lineup. Just like Infiniti did with the geekmobile, the Q45.

Unfortunately, this segment is about image. This RL has a bad one.
