better Opel Insignia pictures

That is a good looking sedan.

And it is about 8 inches longer than the Vectra it replaces.
So GM might not need to “make it bigger for the States” when that car turns into the next Saturn Aura.
Which is what they had to do to translate the Vectra into the current Aura.

  1. Looks great. It reminds me somewhat of a smaller Volvo S80, thanks to the protruding front end grille.

I like the lines on the car- don’t screw it up Saturn!

  2. This car, if left alone, could do Saturn some good. I agree that Saturn should throw a hybrid option in. They have a chance of becoming the Green division of GM.

  3. I’d buy it… Hope Saturn doesn’t do too much to make it look like a “Saturn”. I think the tail design is a little funky and not in a good way. Other than that it is stellar for the class it competes in.

  4. This car looks great. It looks futuristic without going too far. I hope we see some dual mode hybrid and some direct injected engine choices. I would also like to see all wheel drive as an option too. Is this basic car going to replace the Malibu too?

  5. I just read that it will have an all wheel drive option. SSSSSWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEET! Now I just hope it comes available with the DI 3.6L V6. There will be diesels available but so far I read they will be in Europe.

  7. Burlapp the current Aura is not based on the Vectra, it just looks similar to it.
In any case the Insignia is MUCH better

  8. This is alot more interesting than the Malibu, Accord, Camry. I hope it doesn’t take too long to bring into the States.

  9. Illustrations or pictures, the shots here are from Opel’s official press release of the Insignia. As far as the relationship between the current Aura and the Vectra, the only thing they have in common is they’re both built on GMs Epsilon platform. That’s it. And even there, the Aura is built on the long-wheelbase version that underpins the Signum.

  10. Saturn will not be changing anything, essentially, which is the new Saturn-Opel way. Same products, different countries.

Just a little variance in trim and powertrain choices.

And as for current Aura…that really has no Opel, etc. ties EXCEPT for the current global Epsilon platform. So it wasn’t a product of anything except, largely, last gen Malibu, G6, etc. bits and buttons. It just got the Opel-Saturn look, in the end.
