Opel Insignia coupe and wagon

Last Updated:

Sure, why not.
The previous Opel mid sized was offered as a wagon.
And they are considering a coupe.

What would be really nice, is Saturn versions of all these.
Offering more than Honda or Toyota do in the US.

  1. Let’s hope that Saturn doesn’t SCREW this up, like Mazda did the the 2009 Mazda6, with no hatch, no wagon? Saturn has the chance here to hit a homerun! Definitely bring the coupe and the wagon! Looks great!

  2. I hope Saturn doesn’t overlook the wagon. I think it is a shame that GM still thinks people want huge, gas guzzing suv’s like the Outlook when filling your gas tank costs more than a car payment. Count me in if Saturn brings this one over as an Aura wagon. 4 cyl engine please…..

  3. I didn’t think wagons sold well anymore. I guess that is because no one makes them except Volvo. I think Saturn would benefit from having a wagon and two door version of the Aura, maybe help GM regain it’s #1 spot again or at least make Saturn look good.

  4. Even though it’s just a Photoshop, I’d take the coupe in a heartbeat. And if Saturn offered an AWD wagon similar to the Subaru Outback, I’d get one of those, too.

  5. These cars look awesome. I’m really looking forward to seeing the Saturn and Chevy versions. But with the way the pricing will probably work out , I’ll probably be thinking of purchasing the Chevy version(Malibu). Sorry Saturn, money talks. Unless there is a significant difference between the two models that warrants me to spend the extra $2000 to $3000, I’ll probably get the Chevy version.

  6. If this is the closest thing they are ever going to get to selling a Malibu Wagon….I’ll take it!

  7. I think they should make both of ’em Saturns. Saturn has historically had small and mid-size wagons. The only other midsize GM FWD coupe is the G6 and if Pontiac switches to the Alpha platform, Saturn would have the only midsize FWD coupe in the GM lineup. That’s a rarity at GM.

  8. I’m impressed. These cars have better styling than Audis.

GM really nailed it when they started rebadging Opel vehicles as Saturns.

  9. Re: 3:02pm

Why does considering a wagon make you a loser? I suppose in 2008 it would be much smarter to consider a ridiculously oversized SUV, the kind that are only sold in the States, that has woefully inadequate fuel consumption and for the most part, extremely average safety. Not to mention most of these pointless vehicles have only 1 or 2 people in them most of the time.

    Yep..that’s real smart…

  10. That’s a very smart looking wagon. Or avant, or estate or whatever wagons are called these days. I’m not sure if there is a market for another coupe. How well is the Altima doing? I think I might have only seen one on the road. Pontiac is considering a G8 coupe and Chevy is launching the Camaro. Both are more distinctive than this. So with the glut of coupes on the market, I just don’t see the need for this one until the General can measure the success of the ones they already have planned. But I definitely do anticipate the growing demand for wagon-type cars.

  11. To anonymous 11:17,

Don’t worry. If it makes you feel any better, 3:02/1:07 is getting it square in the arse at the gas pumps. Big SUV + big gas tank + high fuel prices = going back to live at home with your mama.

  12. While the US is known for large SUVs that get poor fuel economy, the Europeans aren’t off the hook entirely. Instead of SUVs, European car companies build overpriced sports and luxury cars who’s fuel economy is every bit as bad, and sometimes worse, than the largest SUV.

  13. What makes you think I have an SUV, you idiot.
I just said that only losers would want to be seen driving a wagon.
Never said I own an SUV you dimwit.
    Read before you post.

  14. To 5:39,

I’m sorry. I did’nt realize you were so sensitive. Your box of tissues is in the mail.

  15. “…I just said that only losers would want to be seen driving a wagon.”

The reality is, wagons are common in most upscale, very non-loser neighborhoods. Not all wagons are as pug ugly as Subarus. Anyone calling the driver of an S40 Avant or 535 Wagon a loser just sounds envious. Or maybe you watch too many Chevy Chase movies.

  16. I wouldn’t put down Subarus. The Subaru Outback is a nice-looking wagon. If Saturn sold a similar AWD wagon, I’d buy it.
