2009 Acura TL

Last Updated:

So far the al new TL looks like a cross between the Accord and the TSX.
I know it’s tough to tell from these pictures, but I’m not expecting anything spectacular.

That horrendous new Acura grille will ruin any design it is applied to anyway…

Let’s just hope it doesn’t jump in price.

  1. I am sure it will be appealing to those seeking value. I like the TL and almost bought it last year. But, if anyone from ACURA is listening, they have an identity and brand recognition problem. They used to have a different grille for every vehicle in their line up in every redesign and now that they seem to be zeroeing in on one (…may be), you wonder who the heck heads up their design and marketing teams. Go rear wheel drive and hire another designer and you will rapidly see ACURA catching up with Lexus and Infiniti. They took a survey about a year ago and to their surprise(?)they found out that a nice chunk of consumers do not even know they exist…Hello….!

  2. well, it makes sense that the new TL would look like an Accord + a TSX…the new TSX looks like a Civic with an ugly grille on it in a lot of head-on shots…

Wasn’t it rumored recently that dealers got a preview of the new TL and said was stunning??

I’m worried about Acura. Honda’s styling direction overall is going into an overly sharp, unattractive phase (new accord, new grille on acura, weird RDX, etc)

  3. Hello Vince Burlap. I’ve been viewing your blog for about a year or so now, and I was wondering how can I promote mine? If you could help me, i’d really apreciate it.

    thanks!

p.s. I will continue to view your blog, which is also my home page.

  4. I don’t know what Acura was thinking when they decided to apply that grill to their model line up.

Also, the way the back end looks isn’t too inspiring, either.

  5. With the underwhelming reviews the TSX is receiving, let’s hope they get it right with the TL. The awful garden-hoe grille certainly doesn’t help. It’s time for the TL to mature. FWD doesn’t work any more and smart-but-invisible styling doesn’t work in a marketplace where the CTS’s dramatic styling is arguably the new benchmark among non-german entrylux sedans.

  6. This is the car Acura TL dealers described as “stunning?” They must have been blind, retarded, shown a different car, on drugs or drinking too much of the Honda Kool-Aid®.

Maybe in Honda parlance “stunning” means “not totally ugly.”

  7. The thing about the new Acura grill is that it reminds me of something and its not a good something. I agree as it stands right now there is no reason to spend the extra cash to buy an Acura when you get 99% performance with 80% price in the Honda brand.
    There is zero panache involved.

    ………….

I believe the dealers said they were STUNNED

it’s sooo sad – the last TL & TSX were actually good looking.

    Vince, one favor?
when you get a no-camo pic,
    WARN US!!!

  9. I have an 08 TL, great price, less than 30K, so the value is good. What surprised me the most was mpg, averaging 25 city and if I put it on cruise at 70, the thing gets 32mpg. Who knew.
