What do you drive???

Last Updated:

Simple enough, right?

I was just wondering what my readers are actually driving.
You don’t have to say who you are.
Just tell me what is your every day car. Or cars.

Just curious….

  1. 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham…my second, actually, after my father bought me a 1993 as a “school car”. It’s older, but was a pampered car, looks stunning, runs like beast, and in an area where MB’s, BMW’s, Bentley’s, etc. are daily drivers, it gets MORE attention and comments than anything else. I finally realized this when I had a guy in a Ferrari F430 follow me home just to see the car up close and ask about it. “Do you have any idea how insane your car looks going down the road?” Yep…and the rarity factor is best of all.

But, it’s a beast, and too much as a daily. My mother recently bought an ’08 Malibu, something that oddly has gotten her similar attention despite being a $23k sedan, and is one on my short list of possible new cars soon.

  2. This might sound weird to some, but I actually love this car.
I think it looks like what a Cadillac should look like.
    Almost retro modern.
A few years ago I found out that my favorite futuristic designer/illustrator, Syd mead (He designed the movie Blade Runner among many other things) drives one.

    Congrats!!!

  3. I drive a 2005 ford focus zetec (european version – live in UK) amazing car and a damn site better looking than the US version!,

    Previously owned,
    03′ Renault Megane Sporthatch,
    02′ Peugeot 307
    04′ Ford Focus Cmax
    02′ Vauxhall Corsa

  4. I currently have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid ES (3.2)….it’s a Yacht, but I like the room it has. My old car of a 1988 Mazda 929. That work of Japanese art could have lasted past 20 years…easily, but a Damn deer got in my way.

  5. I’m currently driving a ’97 Honda Accord coupe. I’ve had it for about a year now and LOVE it. The previous owner barely drove it so it’s only got 35,000 miles on it.

    Previous cars:
    1997 Chevy Malibu
    1996 Chevy Cavalier
    1990 Jeep Cherokee

  6. Currently drive an ’03 Vauxhall Corsa. Thinking of replacing it next year with a Peugeot 407… they depreciate really badly, so a yr old one is dirt cheap to buy, and cheap to run as its diesel!

  7. 2006 Smart Fortwo CDI — 75MPG without even trying hard!

Seriously, I’m so happy since I got this little car…pretty much sniffs diesel to run a month long

  8. 2004 Mercury Marauder, 1995 Ford F150 and a 2006 Nissan Sentra… because times are tough at the gas pump!

  9. 1981 Honda Accord hatch. I’ve been driving it for almost 10 years now, the thing just won’t die!

Did I mention the 35 motorcycles?

  11. I drive a 1991 BMW 325ix all wheel drive

It’s a tank in the snow and rain (perfect for western Pennsylvania) and has been nothing but reliable…I bought it off of my neighbor who purchased it brand new off the dealer lot

  12. 2003 Audi A4 1.8T (couldnt be happier, Audi’s are such amazing cars to drive in)
    or
    1989 Chevy Corvette (summer time)

  13. Greetings from Portugal. I usually drive… a bicycle. Yes, i’m not kidding. But sometimes I drive a Citroën Saxo 1.5 D.

  14. 2008 HUMMER H3 and 2007Acura TSX.

  15. Hi from Connecticut!

    Current Car:
    2005 Honda CR-V SE

    Prior:
    2003 Honda CR-V EX
    2001 Honda Civic Coupe EX

    Love the site, Vince!

  16. i currently drive a 2006 mazda5 GT. its a really versatile car, and everyone loves riding in it. i often get comments about how smooth the car is, and how different it seems. its a great ride.

previously, i drove a 2004 ford focus ztw, which i still miss. the focus’ handling truly was something special. such a great car to drive. unfortunately, the north american version wasn’t of the same quality as the european one, and mine was in the shop quite a bit.

first car was a 1994 chevrolet cavalier… no GM products for me EVER again. i don’t care how good they get, i will never give them another penny. my car was a nightmare… like how the windshield wipers stopped working anytime it rained, the rad pretty much exploded, the heat never worked, the gearshift got stuck on many occasions…. etc etc.

  17. 1994 Lexus LS400 with freakin 334K freakin miles…I wish the feakin thing would give me a freakin reason to get rid of it. Freakin.

  18. 05 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster Limited.
Previously: 98 BMW Z3 2.8 Roadster, 95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, 90 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.
Someday I’m going to get a practical car, living in the snow belt and all. I did love those AWD Talons and would have gone with an Eclipse had Mitsu stuck with the AWD gameplan. They were ahead of their time on that.

  19. I drive a 99 Nissan Altima SE Limited w/ 185,000(Love it) and a 01 GMC Yukon SLT w/67,000(bougt in Oct. 07)

  20. 2001 Acura MDX

    2004 Audi TT 3.2 convertible

    2007 Honda Civic SI Sedan

    2006 Lexus GS 300

    2003 VW Passat

    2006 Toyota Prius

2008 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged

  21. Hi, love your site, first thing I do at night is check the news, can’t be bothered trying to find news elsewhere, yours does it all. I live in New Zealand and drive a 2000 BMW 328 Touring and a 2005 Audi A3 2.0T 5 door. Love the guy with the list of cars and his 35 motorcycles, the man deserves a medal for his choices. Keep up the extremely good and valuable work!

  22. 2006 Subaru Legacy wagon (hers)
    2003 350Z (mine)

The Z is a great ride. The lack of a back seat requires you to have a second car handy. The Subaru is a great ride too — it’s been everything we expected and a lot more.

The one past car I miss: 98 Prelude SH. I’d still be driving that if someone hadn’t totalled it while I was stopped at a red light. The Acura CL was close but not quite. Honda doesn’t make a car for me right now.

  23. currently: 2003 pontiac vibe
    previously: 1991 toyota celica

but i take the metrolink and metro to work…most of the time 🙂

  24. I drive a new Holden Commodore SS V8 in Australia (its basically just like a Pontiac G8 GT)

    Best car I’ve ever owned

  25. We (a “mixed” Austrian / Chinese couple working in Switzerland) drive a 2003 Honda Accord (Acura TSX in USA) and a 2007 Opel Astra GTC (Saturn Astra 3-Door in USA).

…and really waiting for the next Cadillac BLS (2010???) on this marvelous new Opel Insignia platform with german-build-quality 😉

    Great Blog Vince!!!

  26. ’90 Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI
    ’78 Mitsubishi Lancer
    ’77 Honda Civic
    ’86 Daihatsu Charade turbo
    ’74 Suzuki Fronte
    ’79 Toyota Corona

  27. 2004 Camry 2.4 in Santa Barbara, CA.

It gets 33+ mpg on the highway, fits 4 snowboards with 4 people and has never skipped a beat in the 165K miles.

  28. ’01 GTI 1.8T, a good day to day commuter car that brings me 31+ mpg on these roads.
    ’06 Rav4 V6 w/3rd row seating for family travel

  29. We’re fortunate enough to have 3 cars – 2 daily drivers and a weekend plaything. Girlfriend has a 2007 Fiat Grande Punto Sporting, and I now drive a 2004 Daewoo Tacuma, which is absolutely essential for hauling the kids around, my youngest son’s baby seat is HUGE!! For those of you who might scoff at the idea of driving a Daewoo – where else could you get a 4 year old MPV/minivan with 25,000 miles on the clock for under £3,000?

The weekend plaything is a 2005 MG TF160, bought from a main dealer a a few months after MG Rover went under, so we saved around 40% on its list price.

  30. Acura TSX and Subaru Forester. I wish I could combine the driveability of the Acura with the durability of the Forester.

  31. i drive a 04 nissan frontier XEV-6
Chevy Express Conversion van 1500 AWD
    2000 Saturn LS2
    2005 Dodge Neon SXT

  32. Acura RSX 2003, previous cars:
    -Honda Accord Coupe 2000
    -Acura Integra 2000
    -Honda Prelude 1992
    -Acura Vigor 1992

  33. 2004 Honda Pilot EXL, 204,000 miles. Never turned a wrench on it. Tires, battery, brakes and regular oil changes. No problem. Crappy MPG, though.

  34. Reverse chronological order:

2002 Toyota Solara SLE V6 convertible
2001 GMC Sonoma pickup (still own the Solara and this)
    2000 Nissan Altima GXE
    1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck

  35. 2001 Nissan Sentra SE, 5-speed manual trans. The SR20DE engine will make me keep this car until it disintegrates. It absolutely loves to be revved high and thrown around. It looks like an economy sedan, but it’s fun like a sports car.

  36. 1999 Saab 9-5
    2007 Toyota Avalon
    2005 Dodge Sprinter
    1998 BMW M Roadster

Thats whats in or around my house at the current moment.

  37. 2001 Mazda Miata for work (live 46 miles away from work one way).

2007 Corvette Z51 Fridays and weekends! Love it! Gets as good or better milage than the Miata on the hwy, just don’t want to put the miles on it!

  38. 2007 GMC Sierra entended cab, XLT, flex-fuel. Black exterior, Black leather interior, loaded, Leer 700 Tonneau with a grey GMC bedliner….Oval runing boards and GMC mudguards……A hell-of-a-goodlooking truck…….

  39. Daily Drivers:

    1. 08 Honda Civic LX Sedan (Man.)
    2. 07 BMW 328xi Sportswagon (Man.)
    3. 04 VW Golf (Auto.)

Had a 1999 Accord EX (man.) with 250,000 miles until i got rearended by an inunsured drug dealer

    Project Cars:

    67 Citroën DS

My friends call me a freak

  40. 1- MBZ, 300E since 1989…everyday car until today…great solid car

    2- MBZ, S430 ‘2005…weekend family car

3- Lexus, LandCrusier’ 1996….family out of town trip SUV

    live in california, USA

They all great cars and serve me really well….

  41. Previous:
    1969 VW Type 3 Fastback
    1985 BMW 318
1985 Austin Montego (worst car ever made)
    1987 Ford Sierra
    1988 Ford Taurus
    1994 Saturn
    2001 Ford Focus

    Current:
    2008 Nissan Versa

  42. 2002 Saturn L300. Despite the lackluster reviews the car has received, my L300 is quick, comfortable, rock solid, hasn’t given me any problems and can do 30+mpg on the highway.

  43. 2004 Honda Accord EX-L sedan (4 cylinder with leather interior).

If you see a silver Accord with a mallard duck at the wheel it’s probably me. QUACK!

  44. Now: Ford Ranger 3.0 with manual

Then: First an ’80 Bobcat wagon (yes the Mercury Pinto, met an untimely demise when it was rear-ended by a drunk driver, damn thing didn’t even explode). Wanted to do a 5.0 conversion but it never happened. Next a ’98 Mustang GT with a manual, a fun car that I could squeeze 19.5 mpg out of if I tried. Needed a truck, sold it and got the Ranger ’cause it was cheaper than a Tacoma.

Future: Hopefully in the next 6 months an ’02 Trans Am for fun and a SV650 for commuting.

  45. I only drive rwd, because I enjoy driving wide on snow. My favourite brand is Hyundai, but I enjoy all asian rwd cars. Previously I’ve owned lots of Toyotas from the early 1980s, but also some other cars. Now I drive:

    1999 Lexus IS200
    1995 Hyundai H-100 Grace Van
    1986 Hyundai Stellar

Next car migth be a Mitusbishi i, Nissan Stagea or a Hyundai Genesis Coupé. No, I think I’ll buy a boring 1996 BMW 320 Touring before that.

  46. 1998 Audi A6
    1998 Toyota Sienna XLE

My wife and I tend to keep our cars in good shape and run them for a long time and when we do replace them, it will be with well kept used cars. Buying new is for suckers. If you want to know why, read “The Millionaire Next Door”. When we replace them in a few years the front runners right now are:

Audi A4 (2009 model or later)
    Audi A3
    Subaru Forester
    Chevy Malibu
Saturn Aura (the new one that will be based on the new Opel Insiginia)

  47. 1997 corolla with about 160,000 miles.

i will be replacing it with the new Honda Civic sedan soon…

  48. 1) 2008 Ford Focus SES..(13,000+ miles/automatic)… 31-37MPG(depends if 20 degrees out to 75 degrees out, for 31-37+MPG)
    2) 2005 Scion tC(96,000+ miles/automatic) 29-34MPG(same as above..depends if it’s cold or warm out..to MPG we get).

Next car: Either a next generation tC, or if gas is still 3.50+ per gallon… a clean diesel Jetta, or one of the “cheap” hybrids coming out by Honda( like the CR-Z, for example, or supposed smaller “Prius”..for the “Pruis-sub-brand “coming out, under 20K msrp).
Who knows? A clean diesel tC, getting 50 MPG, 0-60 of 7-8 seconds to 60; I could go for that.
PS: Would consider an Astra 3 door, if for the 19-20K, we got a clean diesel engine…vs 4 cylinder, that barely gets 31 hwy, and 138HP, vs 160HP(and larger displacement) like the tC….
Give us 35-40 MPG, 0-60 even at 8 seocnds, for that 19-20K(for automatic version of Astra XR, or whatever)….I’d consider it.

  50. 2003 Acura CL Type-S six speed
    2003 Honda CR-V EX
    1990 Mazda Miata

Aside from the Mazda my family is all about Hondas.

  51. BMW 135i , Gmc Acadia grocery getter, 91 E30 M3, Nissan 350Z roadster, Ducati Sport classic.

  52. 1999 Dodge Stratus ES w/95k and a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4×4. If you are a true American than you to should have either a Chrysler, GM or Ford product in your driveway.

  53. 2007 Subaru Legacy Wagon 2.5 Ltd, loaded except nav.

I got the last one of the model year on the east coast. Best car I’ve ever leased, 31 mpg highway (about 16-25 city) and decent four banger engine. Hauls a ton, awesome all wheel drive and people think it’s a GT. It’s my work/play car.

2006 Audi A4 2.0T. LOTS of problems! My wife wants a Subaru now! We had a 2002 A4 Avant 1.8T before this, and it was fine for four years. I still love the build quality and little ‘Audi’ touches, but this car has been in the shop more in two years than my 1984 Jetta was…in ELEVEN.

1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport off-road. Still alive and kicking at almost 200,000 miles! We use it only as a !@#%& car, the A/C barely works and the engine overheats on a regular basis. My son (now age 24) installed a rear audio setup with subwoofers about eight years ago, and it still makes a great novelty for outdoor parties.

    future cars I want:

    2010 Dodge Challenger.
    2010 Plug-In Prius.
    20?? Mercedes-Benz M-Class Bluetec Hybrid.

  67. My daily car at the moment is a 2002 Citroen C3. It’s slow, but economical, easy, and very comfortable drive. I am close to trading it in for a Fiat Bravo 1.4 T-Jet. I will miss my C3, but the Bravo will be a blast… and practical too.

    Other car: 2006 Peugeot 307SW

  73. 2000 Mercury Sable wagon (still need the utility of this solid, dependable, low maintenance, boring vehicle), 1994 Jeep Cherokee (excellent 3rd vehicle, cheap, seemingly will never die), 2003 VW New Beetle (wife’s dream car)

In next year or two will seek to replace Sable with affordable fun to drive compact 4door sports sedan with manual tranny (similar to my old 1993 G20) or similar… perhaps the upcoming Cobalt SS, a Fusion 5spd, maybe the HHR SS would do, a MINI, the upcoming euro Ford that is being brought over, the new Mazda 6, or similar.
