More MKS

Last Updated:

More pictures of the Lincoln MKS.

I sat in a few of them at the auto show, and remember not being that impressed with the interior.
It was pretty cluttered and quite a few pieces felt very cheap to the touch. That could have been improved for production.

I am sure it’ll be a very nice car.
But is it good enough to go head to head with the competition.

At least it looks great from the front.
You know the next Acura TL won’t….

  1. The more I look at this and the 2010 Taurus spy pic…the more they look the same….

Mercury is dead for sure. Too bad the Milan is dead in 2010 after the 2009 comes out :/ I don’t know why they bothered.

  2. tho the MKS could be cross-Shopped with a number of vehicles,
there’s very few direct competitors (if any)…
maybe the Audi A8 or a used A8L?

  3. The TL, and the RL for that matter, can hardly be considered a runaway success. So I really doubt that Lincoln is using those as benchmarks. I think the MKS is pretty sharp looking. It’s going to have to be a damn good car for people to ever consider Lincoln again. Lincoln has pretty much squandered their brand equity for the past twenty years.

  4. I saw a new TSX today….I thought it was going to bite off the front end of MY car with it’s Massive Chrome Beak.

  5. They keep moving the tach and speedometer further from the middle, stuffing the center with 2 tiny guages. In this kind of car, put the speedometer in the middle and a small tach to the side.
Otherwise, it’ll be ok for domestic-brand buyers.

You are an absolute idiot. Did you happen to miss the sales numbers for the first three years for this current generation of the TL? Don’t post personal opinion, do some research before you post such moronic comments. The RL is another story.

This vehicle will be a failure, just like every other new Lincoln that has been introduced. It has the corporate steering wheel, corporate gauges, and same poor quality and fit and finish that can be found in ALL Ford products. This vehicle will have nothing to set it apart from the competition and it will be overlooked, just like the MKS, MKX, and the now defunct LS.

  7. Looks ok, not terribly cuting edge. Cadillac got back in the game with HP, great looks and pretty good value. This has ok looks, nice horsepower, will have to see what the value will be. As for Acura, the TL saved the whole brand, the RL is not even a competitor to anything since no one buys them.

Nice. Real nice. Maybe I am an idiot. But if you can show how the sales numbers of the TL stack-up against the Audi A4, C-class, CTS and the 3-series, then we can talk. These cars line the streets of every upscale neighborhood, with not a TL to be found anywhere. There is no way any competitor should use the TL as a benchmark. It’s not a luxury car. While it may be Acura’s best selling car, Acura is a niche brand that mostly just sells FWD tarted up Hondas. That’s a fact. Deal with it.

  9. The Linclon is a larger vehicle and it will compete with the RL, Cadillac STS, Infinity M series, Lexus ES and GS and Toyota Avalon. It looks good. It should achieve good sales.

  10. Hanna, the MKS is even bigger than you seem to think – respective to the cars you listed, it’s longer by
    10.5 – 3.5 – 11.5 – 13.0 – 14.1 – 6.9 inches

A4, outsold. C Class, outsold. CTS, not even close. 3 Series is the only one that was close or even higher some years. Did you even do ANY research like I had suggested previously??? You cannot base this on what YOU see, that does not represent fact.

None of those vehicles you mentioned are true “luxury” cars either. They are ALL entry level luxury vehicles. I live in one of the most wealthy counties in the US and I can tell you I see more TLs than I see a C class or a CTS which I almost never see.

Where do you get the idea that Acura is a niche brand? That is just ignorant. Those “tarted” up Hondas dominate resale, reliability, as well as owner satisfaction. Your statement was not a fact, it was more of a biased, uneducated personal opinion.

Please do some research before you come back with some illogical and fatally flawed argument.

  12. “Tarted Up” Hondas sell….just like the regular ones. The resale value is so high, might as well buy it new!

The reason the RL doesn’t sell is simply due to advertising. I think I saw one whole commercial. Audi, Cadillac, BMW, and Lexus flood their ads…and even have niche adds, like Lexus’ Holiday Season ads with the giant red bow on the cars…

  13. Why did you bring up the TL it does’nt compete with that, there way different cars.I just read a story that they have 8,600 preorders for the MKS.
