Prius photos and illustrations

These “blue” illustrations published a while ago now seem pretty accurate.
Just compare them the the covered prototype…

  1. Wow. Who would have thought we’d ever have reason to say that (in comparison) the current one actually has some character!

  2. Maybe the prius doesnt have to be all about looks.
Functionality has a fair bit to do with it as well.
    Get over it.

    I agree.

One of the most perfectly beautiful shapes (and most aerodynamic) is the raindrop. Form follows function.

But we can’t expect lesser minds to understand the principle.

  4. Looks like the current Prius. Yawn. BTW, functionality is allowed to have some style. This has none.

Yes it does. You just don’t like its style.

  6. Remember this is heavily discuised ,it is a fair bit different underneath.
Toyota want the prius to have its own recognizable looks and individuality.
Otherwise they would have put the hybrid setup in a corolla. Which will happen in a few years.

Do you understand what goes into building a Prius and how harmful it is for our environment to build hybrid vehicles? I’m not going to go into granular detail, but think about what’s involved in producing a car with two drivetrains, one that contains hundreds of pounds of nickel-metal hydride batteries. The battery components alone create a huge “carbon footprint” to produce and has contributed to terrible environmental problems in the Canadian town and other regions where the raw materials mined. This is an irrefutable fact that has not been fully addressed by the “greater minds.”

On top of it being an environmental pig, the Prius is pugugly and just a terrible car to drive. So no, I don’t get it.

Indulge us please. We’re happy to learn new things. And then tell us how the aerodynamic shape isn’t purposeful, since that was the point. Thanks in advance.

  9. “And then tell us how the aerodynamic shape isn’t purposeful, since that was the point. Thanks in advance.”

No, thank you… for that attempted red herring. Because, actually, we were talking about design and functionality. In which case the Prius is a slug that doesn’t achieve either.

  10. Suit yourself, ne1butu. I couldn’t care less.

I hope Toyota can produce enough of these where we don’t get gouged by dealer mark-up. I have some friends who own the current Prius and would love to trade for the newer model. It will be interesting to see how many repeat buyers Toyota will have.

  11. If hybrid batterys, etc have a huge carbon footprint, why are all other car makers following suit??

  12. People whine when toyota don’t do something diffent, but when they do people still whine.
toyota must be doing something right because they are not the ones making the billions of dollars in losses.

  13. “If hybrid batterys, etc have a huge carbon footprint, why are all other car makers following suit??”

Oh My God! Some people are so dumb! They are following Toyota because they are making money! Just because something sells well doesn’t mean it is a good thing. In the 70s and 80s the Cutlass was the most common car. GM suckered us back then, and Toyota is suckering us today.

  14. Business is business i guess.
It will continue like this until some other car maker comes up with a successful mass produced alternative fuel or electric vehicle. But where are they??
We’ll see how the chevy volt turns out i guess.

  15. Ill give toyota credit. Because they are the first car maker to produce an electric alternative vehicle on a large scale mass production successfully which poses as a major challenge. Someone had to start somewhere.
