Audi A5 Cabriolet

Last Updated:

Nothing unexpected here.
A straight convertible version.
It does look like there is a real trunk left behind the top. A good thing.

We’ll see how much this will be though. The regular A5 coupe already starts at over $40 000…

  1. Thank you Audi for keeping the soft top! I prefer the lines of a canvas top, and I haven’t seen a hard top convertible that looks good rain or shine. And this S5 is going to have the blown 6cyl, which is just cool. If I can get a loaded S5 for around $65k, I’m going to start saving my pennies.

  2. “I can just hear the cloth flapping in the wind at autobahn speeds.”

This is no Chrysler Lebaron or Toyota Solara. No flapping happens in an Audi. The top is three layers, lined, quiet and tight as a drum. Bentley and Rolls Royce still have soft tops. Hard top convertibles are shaped awful and have ugly cut lines.

“So the next A4 convertible will be a hardtop then? Or are they getting rid of that completely?”

I’m pretty sure that there are no plans for an A4 Cabrio. The A5 is going to replace it since it already exists as a 2dr coupe.
