  1. They were lucky. There was an incident down the street from me last year, where the firemen had to take an axe to the front of a late-model Honda. Apparently, the driver ran over a mattress on the freeway, and it became jammed underneath the car. The driver exited the freeway and pulled over on my street, where the mattress caught fire and started burning the car. Oops! The firemen never look for the hood release – they just get out the big axe!
