    I think the merger helped them much more than it hurt them. They now have some of the best cars that they ever have had in their lineup excluding the Sebring and Avenger.

  7. this car is really a joke. It has all the styling clues of a 1980’s mercedes, inside and out. A giant step backward when you put this beside the CLS. Or Passat for that matter.

  9. Chrysler is an stuck-in-80s pig…Mercedes could not get them to grow up and actually extended Chrysler’s life by 5 years. Chrysler engines and transmissions are a friggin joke.

  10. E-Class is the conservative Mercedes for the conservative types. They don’t feel it needs to appeal to the nouveau riche in the C-Class or CLS-Class or to the bigwigs in the S-Class.

  11. Look at the picture of the trunk. Are those gooseneck hinges? Very inappropriate for a luxury car, no matter how close to the trunk side wall they are.

  12. JAL has a point. A lot of folks in E-Class cars over here are driven by chauffeurs, too. In Europe, the E-Class is their bread and butter car (kind of like a loaded Toyota Camry over here). It’s only expensive over here because of the exchange rates, and we don’t like the slow four-cylinder models they sell across the pond.

    The E-Class…in terms of image…is not a car they want to be aspirational to the posters-on-the-wall, new-money crowd anymore. They can leave that to the CLS and the sports cars. Some folks want to be “un-bling”…

  13. Dr. Z didn’t help kill Chrysler at all, and this is coming from an American car nut.

    Chrysler has killed itself with a horrible product mix and poor quality vehicles. I think the merger with Daimler did nothing but HELP Chrysler seeing as how we now have the 300 which is one of the best cars that they have put out in over 30 years.

It’s old looking and everyone, especially the filthy rich want the “newest ” of the new, not a flashback. waste of time and money, won’t sell, will be redesigned in 2 years. CLS is the direction they should all take. end of story. You have to laugh at the LOSERS trying to defend this dud…what a joke. I really do enjoy laughing at them at at Mercedes.

  15. He also helped ruin Mercedes design and quality. Audi has surpassed them in design, technology, quality and engineering.

    I can’t believe a base Chrysler 300 now starts at $27,000. What a joke!

    Glad you are so confident. Check pre-order numbers in Germany. It already IS selling (proving your wrong) and many people like a retro look.

  19. Yeah, Vince do your homework. Since MB group took over Chrysler, they had their best vehicles out there. Those that use the E-class technology. remember the 300C? Sprinter? Crossfire? etc.

  21. Poor simple agressive boy, I’m sure if you look in the mirror while you use those harsh words, you will not like what you see. I pity you and Mercedes for being soooooo dilusional. A new car always moves quick out of the gate. We all know that my simple , small innocent. We are talking staying power. This car has none. It will be redesigned before long. When you see this, don’t be embarassed or feel the fool, just learn my little friend, just learn. Peace is not the end of the journey , it’s what you use along the way to get there.

  23. Pre order in Germany. Who has access to those numbers anyway? If it were true, which it isn’t, it proves ZERO. Germans love their cars just like Italians loves theirs. The Home country doesn’t count, they’d buy a kleenex box on wheels if it had a mercedes badge on it. Hey come to think of it, That’s where mercedes was probably inspired by for this car,the box.
