2010 Ford Taurus SHO

Last Updated:

The SHO is back, in a big way:
-365hp!
– AWD.
-Paddle shifters
-19 inch wheels

It just sounds and looks great so far….

But not cheap, at $38 000.

  1. The SHO is simply a wrong package. Even Hyundai Genesis sedan is more luxurious, more powerful, more refined, and more reliable than SHO. Yet, the Genesis cost less!

  2. No to the wheels and no to the black bottom. You can put a lower body kit on the 2010 Fusion but you can’t put it on this sho? Shos always had body kits. Other than that nice ride.

  3. i wish this had got the FPV treatment would ve looked sick!!!i dont think 38 is a lot if its coming with everything standard like the sync, back up camera and all the goodiesj

  4. ohhhhh boy. another chance, another mess. Remember this, it takes the exact same amount of money to draw an ugly car as it does to draw a pretty one.

  5. Looks like a large Civic Coupe from the back…My Weed Eater has more torque than a civic though.

  6. This car IS worth the money. It has A LOT of luxury and features for the money. BUT, I think this car is going to suffer the same way the Phaeton did. This car fully loaded is going to top out at about $42k. For that money you can get BMW’s, Audi’s, Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, etc. My point is, the people with that kind of money, are’nt going to buy a Taurus. The people who want this Taurus SHO, won’t be able to afford it(people like me for instance). This is VEEERRY dangerous territory for Ford. Although I applaud Ford’s efforts, I think they should have SHO’d the new Fusion instead. It would have been more affordable to people like me.

  7. It is not a lot of money, if the car runs problem free for 100k miles. But, it..won’t. Also, it is such a crass idea to take a bread and butter family sedan and give it so much power. I wonder how many will buy it and what is their background! Frustrated back office accountants?

  8. The dismal fact of unobtainable vehicles due to high prices is showing up extremely early in our immediate future as evidence here! Only the well to do will be able to afford their own personal transportation sooner than one would imagine!

  9. I agree with John M. I think this is an incredibly impressive car. However Ford has overreached on the pricing point. The rest of the Taurus line is competitively priced.

But then I thought that $50k for a Mustang was too much but Ford was selling nearly all of the GT500’s they could build up until the economy crashed. Many people were paying well over list for that car..

Wow, this isn’t a biased comment at all. Seeing as how the vehicle HAS NOT EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET how do you know any of this? This will certainly be quicker than the Genesis 4.6, it certainly will handle better, it has AWD and this is actually a model geared toward performance. The Genesis is very nice, but it is NOT a sport sedan.

    What an ignorant comment.

    $38k for a Ford?

    LOL!”

Why is that so funny? Am I missing something?

Plenty of Fords are running around with 100K+ with no problems. Do you not remember the first SHO? It sold pretty well, would you say the same thing about those people? What about consumers who purchase the G8 GXP? Same thing about them?

    Get real.

  11. I like it but shouldn’t this be the Lincoln line up with that price? Not sure people looking at $24,000 dollar cars will want to spend the extra $14,000 for this. Plus this will make the Lincoln MKZ pointless.

  12. We shall see.

The MKS is going to get this engine as well….but I’m sure it won’t be that much more expensive than this.

I guess it’s really Chrome vs. More Chrome. Choose your pick. I do admit though, this was the only car in the past to look really GOOD with a stock body kit. I’m sure someone drew up plans for it but they decided against it. To go for a more “natrual look” at first glance it may look like a regular taurus until you’re forced to eat it’s dust.

  13. Why is that so funny? Am I missing something?

    Yes.

Just as an example of the incredible depreciation:

    2008 Ford Taurus Limited

    Trade-In value: $15,044
    Private Party: $17,549
    Dealer Retail: $19,438

I certainly don’t expect the new Taurus to be any different in holding value. Do you?

  14. Ford is going bankrupt so who cares what they do…People want SUVs not stupid twitchy/neurotic little cars.

  15. No no no……..GM and Chrysler are going bankrupt. Safe money is on Ford. Taurus looks good. Price seems at least $5k overpriced.

  16. ford first needs to prove they can build cars that are reliable and fuel efficient and go from there NOT Taurus on AWD that is heavy and fuel inefficient. Who needs AWD or 365 hp on a car that is TAURUS???? “performance sedan” is a name for cars like BMW or Infiniti NOT for any kind of Taurus. Get real!

  17. Another mob mentality post here. Just follow the crowd and bash anything American cause its the cool thing to do! NOT

Please, let me be the first to call you an idiot.

Do you read Consumer Reports? Maybe you should check their reliability statistics as of late. You might want to do that before you post such foolish nonsense.

The AWD take rate on the Taurus and the 500 was actually pretty good so obviously people needed/wanted AWD.

You obviously don’t know that the SHO nameplate is legendary. The SHO is, and always has been a performance vehicle. Maybe you are too young or STUPID to realize this.

    Please do some research, kid.

  19. Gorgeous car…and a sign that Ford has a grasp on building desirable products. But $38K is insultingly expensive for a non-luxury brand sedan. They over-reached the “right” price point by about $5500 here. Sure, there will always be a few folks who pay the price, but I’m guessing the market for such (near-luxury-priced) vehicles is drying up exponentially fast – in this economy. So inevitably, there will be discounts, then some more, then bigger ones… when Ford decides they want to sell more cars and keep the production line humming along.

SHO is “Legendary”…LOL!!! Maybe to midwest hicks.”

    Moronic comment.

All automotive journalists loved the first gen SHO, are they all midwest hicks?

I don’t even like American vehicles but I think you are an idiot.
