Acura TSX is getting a V6
Last Updated:
For the 2010 model year, the smallest Acura will get a 3.5 Liter V6 with 280hp.
More than enough for a car this size.
I guess they gave up on trying to be different by offering a 4 cylinder in a class where almost everything else has a V6.
The 2.4 Liter is still available as a base model.
Why don’t they add the turbo for with the all-wheel drive.
what a basic looking P.O.S. Looks worse than the old mazda 6. you couldn’t make it more bland. v6 or 4 or whatever, it’s still an embarassing entry to any segment. New mazda3 sedan swallows this whole inside and out.
I’m thrilled this is happening, but wonder if it will kill TL sales?
They could put the turbines from an F16 in this and sell it for $20k and I’d still pass because of the grill. It’s too bad too because the rest of the car is nice but that grill makes me hate it.
Too bad nobody posting seems to have actually DRIVEN the current car. I prefer the TSX over the TL as it is now. A deft little machine. The TL is clumsy in Uturns, slight oversteer, and the grill fits better on the TSX as it lines up better w/ those beaut xenon headlamps. Throw in a spoiler and the waffle sport rims and its got IS and 4 door 3 trumped. Hondas have to be seen and driven (pushed) to appreciate. The pricing is still lowest n class and the trim/finish is second to none. MPG is excellent and the resale value can’t be beat. Again, I love the current pep in the overclocked 4 so the V6 will only be better. 28 MPG in my wifes 4 cyl so if they can keep it around 24 or so in the V6 like the accord give me the keys already. This V6 OR a slightly used 1 series for the win in 2011.
I’ve determined the whole “grill” thing is just a matter of perception. The car really looks great, with or without it, I just don’t understand why the grill is such a big deal.
I personally think the Euro accord grill is boooooring, I prefer the power plenum.
it’s really sad that H+A’s designers all went blind at the same time…
…and just when the engineers came out of their coma
Yeah!!! Torque Steer!!! No, wait, this is a torqueless Honda product.

Does the 335i kill 535i sales? Does the A4 3.2 kill A6 3.2 sales? No.
This isn’t going to canibalize TL sales at all.

That cartoonish clown car doesn’t even compete in the same segment as this vehicle. What in the hell are you talking about???
DOES NO ONE DO ANY RESEARCH ANYMORE!?!!?
To That weirdo that is thrilled about “THIS” car. Get out more please, you are embarassing yourself.
I was waiting for the V6.
This car is in a good place because it’s bigger than a civic, but smaller than an Accord. The TL is basically just a premium accord again. To bad there is such a premium on the real Accord/TSX in the US.
To be clear this would be an added engine option (won’t replace 4cyl).
The TSX took over volume sales from TL.
I rather have everyone move to 4cyl turbo like Audi A4. Better fuel economy and fast enough.

Equal length half shafts minimize torque steer.
Also, you call 240 foot pounds torqueless? You, sir, are an idiot.

According to Edmunds, the 2009 I4 TSX delivers 21/30MPG while the 2009 EX-V6 Accord sedan delivers 19/29MPG. Since the TSX is lighter and has a lower CD, I imagine the numbers for the V6 might be the same, if not 1MPG higher than the I4 in the same car.
Acura has been sliding for years, this will help grease the slope
My thanks to those of you who spend so much effort to argue over small opinion points. You provide great amusement for the rest of us.
the 240 ft-lbs comes at 13,823 RPM, can you even read a power graph?
A new grille would make more impact on sales than a new engine. Are these selling at all? I still haven’t seen one in person.
Why would anyone choose this chincy thing over a proper engine Pontiac G8
This torque monster is really scary. LOL!
Personally, I like the TSX more. With a V6 it will kill the base TL sales. The TL design is too uch on your face, and not just the grille.

You are making yourself look foolish. Compare this engine to any chart published by other manufacturers with a V6 and you will see what I am talking about.
Thanks for the laugh, though.
Honda goes with short stroke engines for compact design smoothness and durability…They have no low-end torque to them like a proper long stroke engine.
Look at the GM 3.8L engine to have torque. The Ford 4.0L as well. Truck engines are designed for torque at the low end where Honda engines are not. This is why Hondas can’t get going from a stop unless you wind the crap out of the engine.
If this came in a wagon or fastback, I’d consider myself interested.

That last sentence proves that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Do you even have your drivers license?
He is just a Honda fan-boy who is an emotional wind bag.
It may be true of their 4 cylinder engines but Honda V6 is good at the low end. The S2000 and Civic Si suck off the line.
This is just what the TSX needed !!! Even with the poor torque.
