2011 Toyota Yaris ?
Last Updated:
The new Yaris will stiff be offered as a sedan in the US. Where its main competition will be the all new Ford Fiesta.
There are also rumors of a Hybrid version that would be priced well under Honda’s Insight.

While the current Yaris is somewhat appealing to look at (for an econobox), this one apparently got beat down by the ugly tree.
Someone should shoot it and put it out of its misery.
A few comments.
1) If they still have the Speedometer(etc) above the radio… no thanks.
This is why we didn’t even look at the current Yaris.
2) This looks more like a mini-minivan(where the Fit , to me, looks somewhat nicer).
That means.. I do not really care for this styling. It is tolerable..perhaps…but it’s not great(to me) either.
3) The Ford Fiesta looks better than this Yaris, or the Fit.
Hybrid version?
No sale… if it has the odd dash like the current model has.
Not a fan of speedometer by the radio.
You said it right the first time Vince, ‘stiff’!!!
Why would ANYONE buy a Yaris over a Fit or the upcoming Fiesta???
Both are much better overall, in value, driver engagement, ergonomics (speedo in the center???), and overall appeal.
The Fit will continue to dominate the subcompact market and the Fiesta will be a hit.
This might not be the best car, the handling is terrible and the interior is cheap looking but we have one with close to 100000 miles and so far we have only changed the brake pads and the disk in the front only once. There is no car I know with such a good mecanic. And we use it in Canada with very long winters. An hybrid version of this would be the best commuting car, if they can manage to have a price of around 16k.

Honestly, that isn’t that impressive.
There is nothing to the vehicle that can really malfunction. Toyota powertrains for the most part are reliable. I have a neighbor who had a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD V6 with over 250,000 miles with no major failures.
Why in the world did you buy a Yaris over a Fit???
Isn’t that the “egg” car from Woody Allen’s “SLEEPER” movie? (Movie came out in the ’70’s)

You have a Yaris? I feel sorry for you. 🙁

Buy a Honda. Seriously.
There was a post on Autoblog where all major automotive suppliers were surveyed and they rated all the major manufacturers. All said that “Toyotas suppliers are all young and haven’t learned the “Toyota Way””. Honda was the highest rated. Chrysler was the worst.
Why do all Toyotas look like something you’d see on ice at a fish market? They are today what GM was in 1984-2004… Offering cars to people who don’t care about cars.
