This picture shows the Toyota Prado version. Which is and will be sold here as the Lexus GX.
Just the evolution of a boring design from boring to… More boring….

  1. Lexus has been coming out with some darn uuuugggllyyy stuff lately. This thing is'nt helping them out in the looks department.

  2. Looks like the only thing they did was try to stretch the headlamps up the fenders and square off the grill, Yawn …

  3. Is Toyota really so comfortable selling their tired old bland crap that they don't feel they need to try at all?

  4. That not the new GX. You can tell by the grill that its the Toyota Prado sold in other markets than North America. Like the current model, the overall shapes would be similar with different grills, headlights, tailights and interior. I kinda like the current design better. But ill save my judgement until I see the Lexus version for the US before making my decision. I have to agree that the new lexus designs are not appealing to me too much, For example the new LX, HS250h. Im not too fond of the new toyota SUV designs either. Like the Landcruiser, Sequoia. Hopefully the new 4Runner still keeps its unique styling.

  5. Now that the Asians have successfully defeated the American auto industry (their main compitition) they can sit back and continue to offer the American people the same old boring designs!

  6. I don't want to take the drugs that these designers are taking….

Why do they hire designers? Are they MBAs that run car companies?

  7. "Well..you know, when something is beyond peoples reach is…boring!"

Wrong. An Aston Martin or a Range Rover is beyond the reach of most people and few would say that they're boring. Tarted up Toyotas are very attainable my many people. They just are boring. And that's okay if you want to project an image that you're too busy/stressed/serious/motherly/fatherly to care about the car you drive. People like that are generally the ones that have nothing to say that isn't about their kids. And these vehicles are suited for moving the kids and their stuff from one place to another. I think the new Audi ads are really accurate in showing how me-too Lexus owners really are.

  8. i can't even think of owing this, especially in Malaysia as vehicles here are so bloody expensive!!! This would cost around RM600,000,in Malaysia… that's like US$200,000. on the other hand, on picutres i do not fancy it, but when on the road, I kinda like it. Something you must see in the flesh i guess…

  9. So utterly incompetent of Turd-yota. Their quality has declined significantly and judging by this, the latest Corolla, Camry and Lexus models, the best design they can surmise is stretched headlights and more chrome. No doubt they are helping Detroid by making their products more staid.

Having said that, look at all that chrome…a polished turd is still a turd

  10. Wow, seriously that is a lame redesign.

You can't really tell the new RX apart from the old. The same goes for this. Evolutionary design is not a good theme.

  11. "An Aston Martin or a Range Rover is beyond the reach of most people and few would say that they're boring"

Yeah, but they are clunkers bro. 6 months driving them and 6 months fixing them.

  12. Stop all the hating. Everyone trys to hate on toyota just because they are sucessful. Toyota cars are still better than the detroit ones today. Ive owned a 2003 toyota 4runner and it was an awesome truck. Now I drive my dads 2003 Ford Explorer and it is not even close to the performance and comfort of the 4runner. The explorer even left me stranded a few times. Never happened with the 4runner. I know ford has improved alot over the years, but it still cant match toyota. I agree some of their designs are different, hopefully the grandson of the founder, who is now president of the company, can change something and bring back the old quality. So all you haters wait for your judgement until you see the actual car in person.

  13. The haters have nothing else to whinge about. Probably redundant ex detroit workers with a chip on their shoulder.

  14. "Ive owned a 2003 toyota 4runner and it was an awesome truck. Now I drive my dads 2003 Ford Explorer and it is not even close to the performance and comfort of the 4runner.

Actually, Toyotas stopped being decent in the early 2000s. If they didn't rust back into the earth, they were otherwise pretty reliable. The new 4Runners are just garbage designed for mall duty. Not even Pontiac used that much plastic cladding.

  15. Niether cohesive nor symmetrical..Like it was designed by a hnman-hating psychopath..Or an infantile/weak American "art" student..I repeat myself.

I had a 1993 Ford Explorer and it never once left me stranded after 200,000 miles.

Let's not forget about Toyota's frame rot issues.

  17. i wonder how many people say Toyota isn´t making a good job cuz there design isn´t the best at the moment. But – sorry for that – how bad is GM and Crysler? Here we don´t talk about design we talk about the money they need from the goverment to continue there buisness day by day! Think again…
