Next Ford Focus?

Who knows, it’s just another illustration.
But the real thing will probably be pretty close to that.

The current one is actually a very decent car to drive, but it really needs a better design

  1. This looks pretty awesome! I just hope they don't make the front grill opening too big like on the Fiesta (looks like a gaping maw on the Fiesta). The size shown here or smaller would be nice. If this pic was 95 percent of the real thing, I would definetly buy it.

  2. FINALLY! Prius Styling (or better) and MPG at a Ford price! (And you don't have to take that $10,000 hit the first year in depreciation.) … and Focus's don't have the reputation of suddenly shutting off & leaving you stranded like Prious's do!

  3. Well, actually looks like a GOOD LOOKING Prius with the new Ford front end.

Geez, if they could just get the car here……just like the Fiesta, they all look great and will sell like no ones business, but when will they be in the dealership?

  4. Man, I'd just be happy to see Ford sell ANY decent Focus. I feel like we've been teased with what Europe gets for the past decade. This looks good, the last European Focus looked good, the current European Focus looks good… Ford, just get on it!!! Not holding my breath.

  5. How can people think this looks like the Prius? The prius looks like a miserable pile of dog poo.

The prius has sold in excess of 1 million units so it musn't be.

  7. "How can people think this looks like the Prius?" Because the rest of us are looking at the picture with our eyes open.

  8. "How can people think this looks like the Prius? The prius looks like a miserable pile of dog poo."

Agreed. If you squint your eyes, take three Tylenol PMs, drink a couple strong vodka and sodas, and then look at this through the dirty glass, this shape looks abstractly like a Prius. This looks sporty and chic, while the Prius could easily be mistaken for the Down Syndrome sibling.

  9. This looks NOTHING like a Prius.

Just because it has four doors and four wheels does not = Prius.

    Jesus.

    People are dumb.

The public would buy a frozen shit sundae if it were popular enough, and love it too.

So you are better than the public are you? I think you are that sundae.

  12. "So you are better than the public are you? I think you are that sundae."

What kind of statement is that? The "public" thought the earth was flat not long ago. The most popular car in the 70s and early 80s was the "Cutlass." So much for what the public thinks. Actually, Toyota is going the same direction today as GM was back then… living temporarily off of the loyalty of customers, but slowly and steadily disappointing and boring them. The Prius is a $hit car. Producing it creates a lifetime carbon footprint that's larger than just about any other car of comparable size available today. So yes, the public is completely clueless about the virtues of the Prius, which was popularized by Toyota giving one to every A, B and C actor in Hollywood.

    Wow, that was perfect.

Toyota is a shit company as far as I'm concerned. They don't have a single compelling vehicle. At least Honda makes a midsize (Accord) that is still fun to drive. I think I would rather walk than drive a Camry anywhere. Same goes for the Civic, the Corolla is an appliance.

If the prius is such a $h1t car why has nearly every other car company jumped on the bandwagon and bought out hybrids which have not even been close to succesful.
Obviously you are jeolous that toyota is a successful company and more than likely that your favoured brand of automobile is a state owned or bankrupt company.

First off, they are popular because people are sheep, not because it is a good vehicle. Every single magazine has torn every Prius apart, they are miserable vehicles. People buy what is popular, and not what is good. The Ford Fusion Hybrid beats out the Camry and Prius in just about everything as far as hybrids go…

Toyota is currently Japan's automotive loss leader, how is that successful?

By the way, my favorite manufacturer is BMW.

BMW has a hybrid so they must be $h1t as well. They produce a massive carbon footprint as well.

    July 29, 2009 6:07 PM"

Yes, they do have a hybrid. The carbon footprint is because they put a powerful engine in their hybrid so it doesn't drive like a toaster with wheels.

Is that why alot of BMWs are sold.

    July 29, 2009 8:05 PM"

I have a BMW because I track my vehicle, and I love the way it works. It also helps that I have family that works for the company so I get (almost) any vehicle I want at a reduced price.

Are you honestly trying to say that a BMW is not a good car?

It sounds a bit biased thats all.
The BMW im sure is a good car but it sound like this is comparing a BMW with a Prius.
BMW and Toyota are catering for two entirely different markets.
I know people who own a BMW and they seem happy enough and i know someone who owns a prius and is happy with it and it does exactly what it should.

  18. "Obviously you are jeolous that toyota is a successful company and more than likely that your favoured brand of automobile is a state owned or bankrupt company."

Jealous? No. I think it's dumb when people base their decision on what other nameless "people" buy. That's why I mentioned the Cutlass, rotten cars that were hugely popular in the early 80s for no good reason other than because they were popular. There are some pretty pronounced similarities with Toyota and the Prius. And yes, I do think my opinion in this instance is more informed than the average person. The reality is that the Prius, and all hybrid vehicles, are dramatically more harmful to the environment than a non hybrid version. The Prius was popularized by celebrities, easy endorsements that are for sale with zero critique. Toyota hybrid product placement is conspicuous and rather sickening on shows like Weeds and Desperate Housewives. It's being forced on us like the Jonas Brothers when we least expect it, and people eat it up with a spoon. Like it or not, that's lemming culture for you.

  19. That is the biggest load of bullsh1t i have ever heard in my life. Mate you are totally full of it.
BMWs are the most overrated vehicles out there.
The JD powers survey amongst some surveys dont even rate them that good.
Even Hyundai rated better than BMW.
    What a joke.

You do realize that this topic is not about BMW, correct? By the way, Ferrari isn't on the JD Power list either. So therefore I guess you think that Hyundai is better. I want to know which survey ranks the quality surveys. Because I don't think that JD Power would rank very highly. How you say… "Lemming"
