All around a good looking car. I could be a Lexus ES. It's way too big and I think anyone under 5'5" will have a hard time seeing out the side windows. I'd also like to see the huge headlights and grill fad to be over and done.
That "cool glass roof" is the direct copy of the panoramic roof design used on the ES350 Ultra Luxury Edition.
With the trend towards the sloped rear coupe look Hyundai should offer a hatch/trunk like the Skoda and BMW GT5. I would buy that because of the versatility of a sedan without the look of a wagon.
Not very elegant.
i think it's a great looking mid-size sedan. i really like the look of white cars with glass/black roofs these days too. i even saw an ES350 the other day in white/black, one of my least favorite current designs, and it looked really sharp. Mercedes look great in that combo too. good for Hyundai. i can't wait to see them driving around. this really reminds me of the early 80s when the japanese started sending really desirable cars to our shores instead of just low-cost transport. all things old are new again.
Beautiful design for what it is. Let's see what the Korean bashers say. Let me…guess….
that cool glass roof did make it over here almost 2 years ago on the new Nissan Maxima, you know, the one Hyundai copied from.
The more I see this car the more I like it. This car is really nice and that glass roof is awesome! I read the 4 cyl will have direct injection, I hope the 6 cyl will have it too. This car may share some design elements with the solara but as far as I'm concerned, from a styling standpoint, this car is lightyears ahead of the Solara.
Those tires don't fill out the wheel-wells very good. Otherwise the pics look great.
It's SO much better looking than it's competition! I just hope they tweak that front-end soon.
Nice design.
Jeeeesus christ this thing looks INCREDIBLE in white!!!!

Moronic comment.
Mercedes has had glass roofs in the US long before anyone else had them in the states, including Nissan.
Sooo, Nissan copied Mercedes.
Looks like a stretched out US Focus, with a hint of Corolla.
all you freaks that actually are making positive comments on this should really look close. that side view is exactly like a ford focus…no joke, hey vince do a side by side with this dud and the focus. Hahahahahah!
The wheels are REALY too small. They needs Audi/VW proportion.
mercedes roof was no where near the current design nissan uses and Mercedes has actually approached Nissan this year to build them Cruise systems and cvt's. soooooo, research please lady!
The line at the belt…Is that over-done crap really stylish in the minds of the little people?
They have Dunkin Donuts in Korea? Go figure…
That's where the Americans hang out when they are over there. I wonder if Douchbag Jones knows about this?
The Kia Optima version will look much better.
TO: September 20, 2009 5:49 PM; Yes, that side panel design APPARENTLY is liked by the masses; being as so MANY cars have the same lines. BMW 3 & 5 series started it about 10 years ago and STILL use it on everything from the 5-series on down. I think a couple of Audi's have adapted it lately, and it seems like everyone else has at least 1 model with a line along the rocker panel mimicking a parallel line running from the headlights, up through the door handles, to the top of the tailights. Is this because they all have to comply wiht the same government CAFE regulations & other red tape? What ever happened to creativity? GM ALONE had more diversity than this in the past. Or is this just the cheapest way to stamp out a side panel?

What do you mean it is nowhere near the Nissan design? It is a GLASS PANEL just like in the Mercedes.
Nissan needs Mercedes' help because Nissan's CVTs are junk. Read about all the failures on various Nissan forums and on Edmunds.
Nissan is junk.
Guys, Lexus (ES350) and Scions (tC) have the nices glass roofs in the market. If you look at the Mercedes glass roofs, there is an extra seam between the glass and roof, which is unecessary and quite ugly. The Germans invented it, and the Japanese perfected it.
Mercedes has had glass roofs in the US long before anyone else… REALLY?? FORD had them in the 1950's. GM & Chrysler had glass T-tops on several models in the '70's & '80's. Corvette had a 1-piece glass (removeable) roof about 3 decades ago.
The batmobile from the 60's had a glass roof.
Its still a Hyundai. Who actually cares. No one.
Guys, we're only talking about motorized, full glass panoramic roofs. Not removable t-tops, panels, or Batmobile bubbles…jeez, c'mon.
The side creases are a bit too exaggerated. IS there an option for a toned down grille? Otherwise very nice, especially if they undercut the Japanese in price.
This one's a loser. Got pictures of the new Optima yet? At least their designer seams to have some class.
That big ol crease down the side makes it look like a clown car.

A lot of people, actually.
Check the sales figures and then shut your mouth.
Its still a Hyundai. Who actually cares. No one. WRONG. I care. I traded my last Accord in on a Hyundai and it was the smartest (car buying) decision I ever made.
All they really have to do with this to make it really sell is to put the Genesis front end on it…..
I traded my Bugatti Veyron in on a Hyundai Accent.
Seriously! Why did they put that goofy front on it when the Genesis sedan is so stylish? What a really dumb move!
The front might look good in person but I doubt it.
"I traded my last Accord in on a Hyundai and it was the smartest (car buying) decision I ever made."
My condolences to you.
I traded my Audi on a Sonata and it was the best automotive purchase I ever made. Wait… no I didn't. I traded my Mercedes for a Sonata and it was the best automotive purchase I ever made. Ugh, nope. Not believable. An Accord for a Sonata… yeah, that sounds like a reasonable manufactured story.
This car is lame. There's no Hyundai blog shill that can change that.
The Sonata and Optima twins should make a great impact this model cycle.
Chrysler/Fiat, Hyundai, toyota and yes Mercedes have all approached Nissan about cvt's. Why? why Not is the question, read and learn; Lightweight, 1/4 the moving parts, small/compact,Quiet, fuel efficient and…drum roll…….the most reliable transmissions built on this planet today. Certainly some will fail, a machine is a machine, but as compared to every other conventional Tranny made on "this" planet to date, Nissan's world renown quality CVT is the most reliable . Period. BTW, I drive a Dodge Truck and am therefore not a fanboy. I am just stating the engineering facts baby!
that fact guy is dead on baby! I do have a murano '03 and that sucker has 129000 km on it . not one quality issue. CVT still smooth a butta!

His fact is more like made up BS since he doesn't cite a single source.
Nissan's CVT failure rate is much higher than the industry average for conventional transmissions.
