2011 Kia Cadenza

A pretty stupid name if you ask me…
The large Kia will be the K7 in Korea only, and the Cadenza in Europe and the US.
This is what the name Cadenza reminds me of : Costanza! As in George Costanza.

The Kia Costanza!
I speak french and for us, K7 means 'cassette'. So, the name Cadenza is more attractive than K7 but just a little bit…
Sounds like Credenza: either the piece of furniture in your front foyer; or a cane used by one of Dr. Suess's characters. You're right though; it's an odd name for a car.
Today, a credenza is more often a type of sideboard used in domestic or restaurant situations. In dining rooms, it is typically made from wood and used as a platform to serve buffet meals
This has to be the worst name for any new vehicle that will be launched in 2009.
Thats a pretty stupid name for a pretty stupid car.
Is this Azera or Genesis?
Cadenza.
Costanza.
"Can't Standya!" Ah I remember that episode, it was a good one. Not a bad looking Buic–er, Kia
looks just like a Daewoo, the other Korean company that went BANKRUPT!
It looks nothing like any Daewoo that was ever sold in the U.S.
Obviously no-one here has any musical knowledge at all…
Kia already produces the Forte and Rondo, so Cadenza is at least consistent!
Nobody complained the Hyundai Sonata was oddly named. Toyata made a Duet. Honda used to sell the Beat.
Years ago, Mazda gave us the Capella, Fiat had the Ritmo (rhythm) and Lancia sold the Thema (theme).
It's only a matter of time before someone gives us the Accelerando, and I can think of any number of econoboxes that should have been called the Largo.
What the hell's so weird about Cadenza?
If you look at the picture George Costanza, he would be the classic example of the type of person who would own a Kia.
Okay.
I play cadenzas in the numerous piano concertos I play. But as a car name? I don't know…next we'll have the Kia Ritornello, or the Kia Coda…
CRAPENZA

Ummm not so much at all actually. It looks nothing like any Daewoo I have ever seen.
You must be a big GM fan. Just a reminder, your favorite manufacturer also went bankrupt.

Or someone who just got laid off by GM.
I don't mind the name, but it will be easily mocked because it's so close to other similar sounding words. But I doubt that it will get that much attention because this car is very invisible.
What about the Kia Cozmo, named after Cozmo Cramer?
Oh please the Honda Accord sounds stupid. Same for the Cruze and Fit. Also, Echo sounds stupid. And Focus. Don't forget those names. Element, Passport, and Nova. Bretta too. And don't forget the Nissan Note and Versa. If this was the toyota Cadenza, wouldn't no one say nothing. Besides all this over a name? Please.
"You must be a big GM fan. Just a reminder, your favorite manufacturer also went bankrupt."
Actually, so did Nissan. But Daewoo went bankrupt and then went away. GM is still around, and using their bankruptcy to reorganize and re-write union contracts. Hopefully it will pay off, or they'll go away just like Daewoo.
GM is long gone. the new company is a government bailout. Without the U.S. government they would have been Daewoo number two. Nissan never went bankrupt, they went looking for a partner because of cash flow issues and got a great one in Renault. Daewoo went bye bye because the government of Korea doesn't do bleeding heart buyouts. Capiche?
So all in all, The Kia Costanza is junk.
I think it's a beautiful name for this car. I think the Hyundai/Kia musical touches are cleaver.
K7….lets not turn this into another alpha-numeric mess.
Be happy it has a real name (im still afraid of Hyundai going to letters and arbitrary numbers in the US).
It's a better looking sedan than anything that's been produced by Toyota and Honda in the last five or so years.
This is a terrible looking car.
Without the U.S. government they would have been Daewoo number two. And without LOTS of money from Japan's GOVERNMENT, we wouldn't have ANY of the 6-7 from Japan (Toyota, Suziki, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, Nissan(untill sold to the French). Ever wonder how a country where MOST people DON'T own cars can support 6-7 car Mfgr's when a country where most familys have 2 (and a lot have 3+) can't even support THREE? — With one (GM) being the biggest & longest lasting in the WORLD??? Government bailouts are hardly a new idea in the auto industry. And as to why the American taxpayer now owns half of General Motors, here's a hint: ignore the "quality issues" of the spin doctors and focus hard on the relationships between American Businesses and American Politicans and American Unions.
even that horrific toyota up top is better than this daewoo look.
Acutally Daewoo did produce a vehicle as horrific as this a few years back. It was called the Daewoo Leganza.
Rhymes with Costanza as well.
Interesting Coincedence i must say.
Ya Ya that was it, leganza, look that son of a bitch up, but get ready, it's as ugly as this.
"Nissan never went bankrupt, they went looking for a partner because of cash flow issues and got a great one in Renault. "
Actually, Nissan's bankruptcy was inevitable, and only avoided by being bought by the French. Bankruptcy is the only thing that has permitted GM to renegotiate contracts with the UAW. Because of the UAW, and if the intent is to eventually become profitable, GM couldn't have simply been sold to a buyer.
DAMN that's funny!!! All I can think of is the gym teacher that said "CANTSTANDSYA!!!" I do like the car though, but yeah, the name sucks.
These photos suck but other photos look way better. I seen them and the inside too. This car is so slick.
Hey, they needed a clean break from Amanti, so sue 'em…
I like Cadenza! And as others have suggested, musical terms could comprise Kia's other model names: Tutti (all together) would be a nice replacement for the Sedona, and Coda (a tail added) could be the notchback version of the next Rio! 🙂
