Lexus LFA production model

Not really sure what to think of this.
Why would Toyota want to compete with historical names like Aston Martin or Ferrari.
Must be an ego thing, something to prove …

I would take a cheaper Audi R8 over this.

  1. Ok. It looks good. I'm sure it's fast. They're trying to build brand equity. I get it.

    $400k?

That's about 5 times more than it should cost.

I'll take a GTR for my rice rocket fix.

  2. Looks similar to the Toyota volta they showed 3-4 yr ago as an electric hybrid sports car. I have a GT-R now and don't feel like I'm missing anything bot sure like the Porsche GT3.
$400k would buy me 3 super rides

The ego thing is why we have Ferrari and Aston Martin.

  4. The headlights and the area below the taillights are TEEERRRRIIIIBBLLEEE!!!!!
The car sounds great and the interior is awesome though. This car is almost there but toyota doesnt give a crap what I think. Whatever….I'd rather have a Corvette GS.

  5. Im sure there is a market for this, and they will sell a few, but they aint gonna sell alot of these ! so why bother, also id rather have the gtr or r8 anyday !cheaper and way more sexier !

  6. Oh good lord, talk about a bandwagon jumper. A Toyota on the Nurburgring. It still looks like a stupid ricer and Toyota just appears desperate for some credibility with this.

  7. Wow, who crashed the IS into the Lambo?

Poor excuse for a Supra successor…

But it's deemed as a "halo" car, so it's not like they are losing anything on the limited sales.

  8. Who said this thing would cost that much. I'll buy one for 90k thank you. Or maybe I'll get a 911 Carrera for that.

  9. Strange: a production car that is more aggresive than the concept(s) that spawned it. But I agree with 5:45, it does look like a ricer. $400k is absurd.

  10. $400k?

Where did you get that price from??

It wont cost anywhere near that.

    Looks awesome by the way.
A bit of a refreshing change into the supercar world.

  11. As we've all come to expect from Toyota, not an object of beauty! Looks like it was designed for a video game….sad…in light of all the time and money that was probably put into it.

  12. "I would take a cheaper Audi R8 over this. "

Talk is cheap. Like 90% of us here (including you) could afford one.

  13. I'll take whatever is fastest for the price.

I'll take a used 997 Turbo or a GT-R and mod the hell out of it.

  14. so why they didn't make it cheaper and introduce it as new Supra!!

who will pay that much for a TOYOTA!! even if they are using the name of Lexus.. at the end it's TOYOTA

  15. Oh What a Feeling!

I thought that Ford was nuts to produce the $150k+ GT. But at least it is beautiful and there is a lot of history behind it. People were excited about it, and so it became an instant classic. This looks like an amateurish knockoff designed for a Fast & Furious movie. And $400k… only the cheeziest NBA player or attention starved oil heir would spend that on a Toyota. Even at $100k, this car is a complete joke. Toyota just seems like they're losing it completely.

They aren't losing anything? Lexus/Toyota announced they would be losing money on every single sale.

    Completely agreed.

A F430 performs just as well, if not better and it COSTs LESS and has a MILLION times more heritage and prestige than Toyota or Lexus ever will.

Hmmm, do I want a Ferrari or a Toyota?

You can add a Porsche GT2, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, or a V10 R8 to that list as well.

Come on, this car is a joke. It isn't a halo car, it is a stupid joke.

  17. The styling is supreme and should be incorporated into future Lexus products. The next Lexus coupe should take some design cues from it.

  18. "The styling is supreme and should be incorporated into future Lexus products."

I don't mean to be a jerk, but I just don't see how anyone can think this is attractive. At any price, it looks silly and unfinished.

  19. Wow, who'd have known the Toyota haters NOW decide to surface.

Maybe commentators here are just frontrunners. Love the CR-V, love the Camry, love the Prius, love whatever car is the top seller in its respective segment. Probably all big Yankees, Megan Fox, and Lil Wayne fans too.

The envelope should be pushed by every company, no matter who they are. Car companies shouldn't necessarily be forced to stay in their lane. Lexus wouldn't even exist if that was the case. And I can't wait for the "big, expensive Hyundai" Equus either.

Gee that's just great. It's great that Toyota will develop a car for 500 douchebags. Half of which will end up on Wreckedexotics wrapped around a telephone pole in Dubai. And it's great that they spend obsessive effort on carbon fiber A-pillars while overlooking the obvious things that make many sub-$100k cars superior. The looks of this car is certainly pushing the envelope of good design, because it's goofy looking. At least most people could afford an Equus if they really wanted one. But this will be a car that few people can afford, or want. Its a good thing that there are so few of them.
