The New Chrysler line up!

Last Updated:

Here is what we can expect from Chrysler in the next couple of years, according to the Wall Street Journal:

The ones who won’t make it:

-Chrysler Sebring
-Chrysler PT cruiser
-Dodge Nitro
-Dodge Grand Caravan
-Dodge Caliber
-Dodge Avenger
-Jeep Compass
-Jeep Commander
-Jeep Patriot

That is quite a death toll

Now for the survivers:

-Chrysler 300
-Chrysler Town and Country
-Dodge Challenger
-Dodge Journey
-Jeep Grand Cherokee
-Jeep Wrangler

The Dodge trucks will be sold under their own brands.
The Chrysler 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee are redesigned for next year.

Now for the new kids in town:

-Fiat 500, sold by Chrysler
-Alfa Romeo Mito
-Alfa Romeo Milano
-Alfa Romeo unnamed new mid sized sedan
-Alfa Romeo 8C Competitione

I don’t know about you, but it all sounds OK to me.
I can’t wait to finally see these Alfas. And I won’t miss the departed models from Chrysler.

  1. Actually, I like this lineup a lot. Those on the cut list were real dogs anyway. And the survivors are core vehicles that that ought to keep.

  2. The only reason they spun off the dodge truck brand is so they can sell it when everything else fails soon ! The dealers are barely scraping by right now with there car only sales and there supposed to hang in there a couple more years till fiat gets there act together here in the states ?

  3. I really doubt they will kill the Dodge minivan, since it is the volume seller over the Town & Country (which they are supposedly keeping). I also believe the Dodge Charger will return, as will the Jeep Liberty and Patriot.

  4. This is heartbreaking. Another new owner eviscerates Chrysler. The vehicles being axed may be unworthy products in their current form but I would have hoped Fiat would re-grow these brands and redesign SOME of these products to make them competitive. Even some form of brand engineering would be acceptable. But this strategy shows a lack of commitment to this company and its heritage.

  5. I don't care in the least.

I honestly just want Chrysler to go away, they can leave Jeep even though their current products are terrible.

  6. Dodge Grand Caravna going. I do not believe it. Its the largest selling minivan in Canada and its the bread and butter for Dodge.

  7. Yay! Death to all American car companies! More Accords and Camrys for everybody!

To honestly wish for this is un-American.

I really do hope they return with another Charger. It's great to see cops going towards those and away from Crown Victorias.

  8. whoa, whoa, whoa….Are you implying that the 8C is coming to the USA? As an Alpha or a Chrysler if AT ALL?

  9. So much for trying to make status in my Dodge Stratus. I always likes Italian cars and owned a few Alfas and even a Fiat and really miss them. the Fiat really earned the "Fix It Again Tony" and the Enzo Stuarte "4 months to repair and you gotta leava the car"
I'm an innovator and want an Alfa first!

  10. Getting rid of the Dodge Grand Caravan is like Ford getting rid of the Taurus!…um…well…you know what I mean. It's just not right getting rid of something that has sold for decades on name recognition alone! Ax-ing the rest makes sense. Everyone has been telling Chrysler to do this since 2007! The Jeep brand re-emerging as the JEEP brand only makes too much sense.

But what about the Charger and Liberty? It really doesn't make sense to keep the Journey unless the "sebring" and "avenger" just lose their names/body/interiors and gain hope for something better.

I don't understand how it's worth it for Dodge RAM Trucks and Dodge cars to be separated (outside them wanting to one day sell off the truck division) when Dodge is only going to have two cars in the showroom.

  11. Unfortunately, Fiat is not reliable. And compare a Chrysler product to a Hyundai… the Korean is a lot better. Nobody told this 10 years ago !

  12. According to the Wall Street Journal article – the Charger is indeed here to STAY!!

Like some of you – I think getting rid of the Caravan is silly. And how is Chrysler going to be 'a notch above Cadillac' with a mini-van and a Fiat 500?

As for the Ram being a separate brand – from what I understand – that's only going to effect those 'in-house'. In other words – separate 'teams' will be responsible for Dodge CARS and for Dodge TRUCKS. But it will still be called the Dodge Ram.

  13. a Fiat is better built (proven) than any korean product. This comes from a market study that already sells both products. Europe. Look up Kia vs Fiat quality baby!

  14. What about the Dodge Charger and the Jeep Liberty? Those were left out of either list, perhaps this is an oversight?

  15. Hmmmm. No midsized sedan? I doubt it.

Killing the caravan? I doubt it.

Killing the Patriot? Why – it sells fine. The compass I get.

I personally think some of those FIATs are ugly / WAY overstyled.

Guys – why not release the 200C? It was near production ready. Looked great and would be competitive within the world of midsized cars.

I just don't get some of these decisions.

  16. Crap + Crap = Megacrap. Fiat and Chrysler hooking up is like two hookers hooking up with VD. Doesn't anyone else remember the last time Chrysler hooked up with Italians? Chrysler TC anyone?

    BS Story.

The UK counterpart to Consumer Reports already have done reliability studies with Kia and Fiat. Their research is PROVEN to be statistically sound.

Kia rates MUCH HIGHER than Fiat, which ranks near the bottom in their studies. Hyundai also is ranked much higher than Fiat. Korean products are not only better built, but they are far mroe reliable.

The intelligent people can see right through your moronic, transparent story.
    Nice try little kid.

The Caravan I don't get either, but I could if they lowered the price of the Town & Country. They could cannibalize the sales of the Caravan and that is why it is going to go away.

The Patriot really doesn't sell all that well and it is based off of the Caliber which is going away. The Patriot is a miserable vehicle, even with the refreshed interior.

Any Fiat has far my style than any Chrysler or Dodge POS.

The 200C production ready???? It was a pure concept that hadn't even entered the pre-production stage. There aren't even any platform mules running around. How in the hell is it production ready????

I don't know where these people are getting their information from…

  19. Makes one think – If these Chrysler products were not such unreliable crap would the market want these axed models? I think so.

  20. They are getting rid of the mid-size sedan…The only car that really sells in the USA…What a bunch of tax-taking tards. They will probably build the next Trabant.

  21. Why don't they just redo the Sebring and Avenger…Why bag the best selling segment.

Duhhhhh. These people are absolute morons.

  22. Crap + Crap = Megacrap. Fiat and Chrysler hooking up is like two hookers hooking up with VD. Doesn't anyone else remember the last time Chrysler hooked up with Italians? Chrysler TC anyone?

FYI; There's a 20-year old Chrysler TC for sale on line this week starting at $15,000.00. Or for $200 you can pick from a buffet of 20-year-old Acura & Lexus models and they'll throw in a hooker for free!

  23. WHY AGAIN, IS FIAT DROPPING PATRIOT?:
    Jeep Patriot 4×4 JUST WON the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) for best-in-class capability in the compact SUV segment. (which means a lot more than say, the sports car guys from R & T giving an opinion about an off-raoder). Patriot has best-in-class 19:1 Low Ratio, aggressive approach & departure and breakover angles; 9 inches of ground clearance; it can support 19 inches of water-fording;
has skid plates, tow hooks, ETC. AND STILL GETS 29 highway mpg (NOT AS GOOD AS GM-CHEVY EQUINOX OR GMC TERRAIN; BUT BETTER MPG THAN RAV4 OR CRV; not to mention the off-raod prowess of the "Trail-Rated" version. I think FIAT is confusing the Italian market with the USA– they're definitely different! Hope they get that one straight in their minds before making too many more bad decisions!
