2011 VW Passat

Last Updated:

Not for us.
The plan is to quit selling the Passat in the US once the new “US only” sedan is ready. Which would be around the same time the Passat gets revised.
But I guess we are getting the new Jetta first.

  1. Ooooh, I don't know if I'm too torn up about not getting this. I love myself some VeeDubs, but this is not a good looking shot. This next wave of VW front end designs is way too conventional. Very Toyota.

  2. in the automotive world, making or modifying something so it's "us-only" usually means "POS".

oh and that us only car will probably be made in mexico, which will further destroy VW's reliability rating, which si already near the bottom

  3. Anybody remember the early 1980s US-made Rabbit?
It was like a Golf, only it had a monotone "plush velour" interior and no road feel.

Nearly killed the brand in the US, and I guess it's been long enough that nobody at VW remembers. Here we go again.

  4. "VW are reliable now…You all live in the past."

You're kidding….right! Do you read? My first VW was a 77 Rabbit that I bought new and I have never has a less reliable car since. The new ones…well I laugh when my buddies tell me about the problems they have with them. Reliable now…I don't think so.

  5. Uh, 3:34:

A 1977 Rabbit is not the same as a new VW. I have had several VWs and Audis since the mid 80s, and I have one now. At almost 67k, my current Audi has proven to be just as reliable as my other cars. And they're much more fun to own. I hear the stories about horrible quality issues, but I don't know anyone that has experienced the kinds of exaggerated stories I've heard on this blog.

  6. JD Power admitted that ALL mainstream cars are reliable in the 2009 model year…You can't make a bad choice today…Even with Chrysler and VW.

    Woowwww.

All cars have been reliable for a total of one year. Impressive.

    Are you KIDDING???????

Who cares about one or two years. I care about 5+.

I have a friend with a 2007 Jetta Wolfsburg and it CONSTANTLY has an electrical fault or the check engine light is on. It has been in the shop probably once every other month for something that has gone wrong.

VW and Audi are brands to avoid.

    Ought
    To
    Avoid

  9. I had an '82 American built Rabbit and an '03 German built Passat. I put more money into the Passat in the 4 years I owned it than I spent on the Rabbit in the 15 years I had it. I will never buy another VW, I don't care if they are better now than the way they were 6 years ago, their customer service sucks.
