2011 Audi A8 video

Another sedan nobody will ever notice.

When will anyone design something striking we must have? All big expensive sedans look like old people cars.
They all look fine, and I’m sure they are great to drive. But could they just look like something more interesting?

It’s almost 2010!!!!

Here is what they have to say:

Body
– Lightweight and yet ultra-strong aluminum body with ASF design
– Flowing design, full LED headlights on request

Interior and controls
– Luxurious interior with newly developed, spacious styling
– Craftsman-level workmanship, emotionally charged interior lighting
– Advanced MMI operating system, MMI touch navigation system with pioneering operating concept
– Seats with optional ventilation and massage functions, luxurious individual rear seats optional

Safety
– New Audi pre sense safety system for avoiding accidents and for minimizing their consequences

Infotainment and driver assistance systems
– Navigation system of the next generation closely networked with the assistance systems; high-end audio systems and online services
– Night vision assistant with pedestrian marking, adaptive cruise control with stop & go feature and advanced driver assistance systems

Drivetrain
– One gasoline engine, with direct fuel injection and 273 kW (372 hp)
– Consumption improved by 15 percent with enhanced performance
– New 8-speed tiptronic as standard, shift-by-wire control
– Standard quattro all-wheel drive, optional sport differential

Chassis
– Lightweight wheel suspension, balanced axle load distribution
– Audi drive select driving dynamic system including standard adaptive air suspension and adaptive damping, optional dynamic steering “

  1. Who cares if its almost 2010. This car looks the part and is very nicely done. People with money buy this car for what it is and Audi was right not to mess with the good part from the old car. Can you afford this car?? No you cannot so it does not matter what this car is for you. This car has an elegant and handsome timeless design that people with money will buy that is not gaudy and chunky like the old S class and the bangle butt 7 Series. Those never sold well.

  2. the LED "necklace" in the a8 is seriously retarded looking, why can't they just kept it the same way as the rest of the audis?

  3. This offers absolutely nothing appealing. It looks like an enlarged A4 or A6.

Want AWD? S550 4Matic is your answer.

    You are kidding right?

The W220 and the current W221 S Class and E65/66 7 Series Series outsold the current generatio A8 at a rate of almost 4:1.

You might want to check your figures before you make up information due to your own bias.

    Get real.

  4. Coming from someone who said Kia and Hyundai are nice, come on. Give me a break! This car is awesome! Why messed up the car and being too risky if your pre-existing model is already a home run? I love this car. The interior is top notch and best amongst the other competitors.

  5. I love the current A8 and am excited for this. However in pics, the sheetmetal looks very very conventional. Especially in tan. I don't expect an outlandish design for the A8, but this looks more like an interior and exterior update rather than an entirely new car. All of the visual excitement is within the plastic bits. LEDs aren't a novelty any more and can't be the only visual thing that separates this from every other car. It would have been good for them to have pulled some of the design cues from the R8.

  6. Let me rephrase this, I meant that the bangle butt 7 series did not do well as compared to the older generation. The new one is nice but conservative. The S class from 2001-2007 was very poor in terms of quality when the previous generation A8 from 2003 till now was perfect. The latest S550 from 2007 until now is the leader as usual.

  7. It looks like a stretched A4 and the A4 looks bloated and weird.

I'm with the other person, give me a s class or a 7 series.

  8. Where is the part about improved reliability? VW/Audi are POS when it comes to reliability. They can put as much makeup on this pig as they want, but at the end of the day, it is still just an unreliable big VW sedan with a ton of complex electronic systems waiting to fail.

  9. while the styling looks like it's released 2 years ago already, im glad that they sticked with the same 4.2l displacement and pumped more power outta that. instead of endlessly enlarging their engine size

  10. I'm not nearly as excited about this as I was with the launch of the last A8. The touch sensitive user interface is brilliant and I can't wait to play with it. But the exterior styling is awfully boring and predictable. Maybe a different color and wheel option would help. Tan is for a Camry, not an Audi.
