2011 US Hyundai Sonata

I just hope this isn’t a top of the line version.
Wheels are looking a bit wimpy.

And where is the glass roof option that is available in the Korean market?

  1. The wheels look like normal wheels. They just aren't those stupid ghetto rims that some people think look good.

Maybe the exhaust isn't large or loud enough. Maybe the stereo doesn't rattle the walls three miles away.

Then again, maybe this car is normal.

  2. Hyundai has it going on. Sales are up 46% and that is before the introduction of this new Sonata. Between this and the Kia Cadenza, the Koreans are the ones to watch out for.

  3. i'm floored by the interior. design-wise, it's in the same league as Infiniti, Audi, Volvo, BMW, MB, Acura etc. i think the center screen is better integrated than all of the above, much like the Infiniti's but with fewer buttons/controls.

the exterior is crying out for larger wheels, and hopefully the glass roof will make the options list. that's about it for me too. i'd love to see rwd proportions, but in a dark color, i bet this car is GORGEOUS. i bet reflections, such as city lights, would be a knockout on these panels. hyunda handles light reflections beautifully on the grille and hood.

  4. Looks good. Wrong angle of pictures to draw any conclusions about the wheels. Have you seen the standard wheels of the 328i? Now that is meek looking.

  5. The cranked grille looks a little strange; overall, much better than the previous generation, but it looks too derivative in its styling.

Exterior styling; looks too much like Lexus ES-class.

Overall Interior design; Looks like Nissan Info-Screen design + HVAC controls copied from Volvo + general stack layout from some of the larger Lexus SUVs

  6. The Hyundai Sonata features straight up copies of:

    – Cadillac CTS Vents
    – Acura Gauges
    – Volvo HVAC Controls
    – Inifiniti Nav Controls

    It's like a Chinese Sonata.

  7. I see Hyundai decided to stop making the Sonata look like a Camry.
Good thing, now that Hyundai has better fit, finish and reliability than Toyota.
Maybe they'll even stop telling us that Hyundai is pronounced "Honda." It's not like they need to fool anyone into buying their cars anymore.

  8. Yay. Another generic sedan. If this were a Ford Chevy or Toyota, it would be mocked and ridiculed. Good thing people have low expectations of Hyundai.

  9. I think it looks fantastic.

Vince, those wheels are not for the top trim line. This is a mid level Sonata, but the interior is the top trim.

Dream on. If Ford, Chevy, or Toyota took this much care in designing a car, they'd get the credit they deserve. You're just mad they didn't.

I'd leave Ford out of this one, they are designing some killer cars as of late. The Fusion and the Taurus are incredible…
