  1. I'm not a SUV fan, but this looks far better looking than a CRV, Rav, Forester and Rogue. Very nice! Congratulations to Kia!

  2. hmmm. i left a comment on your other Sportage thread but i don't see it. at least i THOUGHT i did, lol. i LOVE this styling. i think it's striking and unlike most, if not all, CUVs out there. the C pillar is polarizing for sure, i would have expected the greenhouse to have a third window behind the door, but the more i look at it, the more i love it. LEDs in the headlights, smooth swanky lines, unbelievable, really. it's an aspirational vehicle, and who would have thought a Sportage could be that? bravo Kia and Peter Schreyer.

  3. Oh, look! It's exactly like everyone else's small SUV. How… absolutely redundant and boring. It's like visual white bread. So bland it's almost not there.

When we look back at what kind of weird autos we all drove in 2010, these will feature prominently. They'll seem as ridiculous and silly and ugly as huge tail fins and landau roofs seem to us now.

    Buy a nice sedan!

—Buy me a nice sedan (preferably a Fusion Sport…in blue) and we have a deal!

Interestingly enough, I still see those joke of a Sportage contraptions still on the roads. Anything can improve with enough time and effort. The key is KEEPING it that way….UNLIKE you know who…..*cough*T*cough*

  5. designed in california by Massimo Franischella.. worked at Ford in Irvine.. and before that at Bertone, great guy!

  6. Walking outside today, I was struck at how nice the Nissan SUV's look from behind. I just wish they'd fix the front. Hmmm… hope this gives some folks there an idea.

  7. That's one helluava blind spot back there in the C-pillar area. Oh, wait…there's no such thing as a blind spot if you adjust your mirrors correctly.

    Seriously. Heard it here folks.

What about the Scion XB, Mazda 3, Vibe, Campass, Highlander, Outlander?

  9. Name one car in this segment that is really out there with its design? The truth is that if the design of this car was really original and out there you would all be whinging and moaning about how ugly it is and what were they thinking and "I'd never drive that!"….not only that I'd like to see ANY of you try and design a car that looks completely orginal. A circle is still a circle, a square is still a square no matter who draws it.

You're all too happy to point the finger and act like you know anything about what goes into designing a car or any object for that matter. I think this a great design from Kia, especially from the back. When you think back to the mid nineties when all they had was the crappy Mentor hatchback and original Sportage they have come a long way and unlike Toyota who's simply relied on brand loyalty over visually exciting products and decent equipment levels, they've put a lot of effort in to get where they are now. I hardly think you could consider this ugly or boring. Certainly not next to an 80's style CRV or as some enlightened being put it, "white bread bland" Rav4.

The test will surely be their sales figures. I think they'll do quite well out of this one so congratulations to them. I believe this is what we call hard work.

Agree 100%. This is a good looking auto and a great effort by KIA.
