Mitsuoka Mustang

Last Updated:

The small Japanese manufacturer Mitsuoka used to turn Japanese cars like the Nissan Micra into a wannabe Jaguar.

Now they are using the Ford Mustang and turn it into some Bentley/Cadillac monstrosity.
One of the craziest design I have ever seen.
Maybe they should open a dealership in Florida, or Palm Springs…

  1. WTF? This makes the crappy Chinese copies look absolutely original and elegant. How hard would you have to be struck in the head to find something like this attractive?

  2. Before we knock the Chinese too much, let's pause for a moment and reflect on the fact that the Aztec came out of Detroit…

  3. The least they could done was finish the4 sides (between the wheelbase) to match the nose and tail. Some rocker panels or skirts? do that and I have no complaints.

I looked some of those older Mitsuokas, Excaliburs, Zimmers and such. because they actually looked finished.

The Aztek was a failed style experiment. Kind of like the Ridgeline, the Previa and the ass-end of the Panamera. All of these had (have) a functional purpose of some sort. And you have to respect automakers for reaching beyond their comfort zone to make irrational vehicles. Otherwise we never would have gotten the NSX, Porsche GT, Ford GT or CTS-V.

But the Chinese take the cake at bad taste and just keep pumping out this nastiness one after another. There is no function behind it, just a garish and amateurish assault to our visual senses.

I suppose that we could say China is in the same place the America was in the 40s and 50s. The automotive industry is new to them. And they're doing a lot of wacky things that hopefully won't amount to anything.

  5. Can't you people read? Mitsuoka is Japanese… NOT Chinese! And there is a market for these monstrosities in Japan. Whatever turns a profit.
