I think some people are missing the point of this car.

It is not replacing a Minivan in any way.
Toyota will be selling it against other 5 seater crossovers. Kind of like the Euro Ford C-max (Not the 7 seater Grand C-Max we’re getting here)

In that case, 40MPG is great compared to the competition.

    so the seating WILL be like the 2 (TWO!) C-Maxes that Ford just announced: the 'regular' Hybrid and Energi plug-in 5 seaters
    which afaik, we ARE getting

  3. Yeah. I still miss the point of this variation. My neighbors have a Prius and an MDX. The MDX is their "time to shop at Costco" and road trip car. Doesn't the Prius actually get worse mileage on the highway than in the city?

  4. I think this is a bit of a mis-step for Toyota..if anything, it's going to steal sales away from the current Prius.

    My thing is, why not make it a 'true' crossover?? That's what the market wants! If they'd done that, I reason they'd generate more incremental sell thru.
