What could have been: 1958 Chrysler Imperial

The 58 Imperial turned out to be quite a car. But it didn’t push the envelope like this concept did.

WOW, that is UGLY.
Whew! Thank God they didn't push it this far!
That's got to be Virgil Exner's work. Looks like a giant early 1960's Valiant / Lancer.
Build it now. Could save Chrysler.
Looks better than anything Honda or Toyota are putting out these days! LOL!
Big huge barge for big huge people.
Strong hint of Valiant in that glasshouse
That was a time when you didn't have to search for the nameplate to find out if the car was supposed to impress you–it was OBVIOUS! Unlike TODAY's mediocre generics! (Honda-Acura / VW-Audi / Toyota-Lexus / Ford-Lincoln / Ford-Volvo (now somethig else-Volvo; if anyone cares) Mercedes-Maybach / etc.etc… It's pretty sad when a $45k Lexus is hard to distinguish from a $25k Camry (which itself looks like a blurry mix of anything & everything). I sure miss that attention to detail!
