2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
Last Updated:
Looks like another really good design from Hyundai.
And actually quite subtle.
No words on engines yet. We’ll see if they will go for an “all 4 Cylinder” lineup like in the Sonata.
Or, like most others, keep the V6 as an option.
WOW! This is a very good looking CUV. My only complaint about the new Hyundai design direction is the front end. The grill seems oddly proportioned on most Hyundais (especially on the Elantra). The front end of this Santa Fe looks really well designed and proportionate. I like!
I like it!! My car is up in January '13 so I'm considering either this, a Murano, or an Edge. Let's see how they do against each other.
Looks like pretty much every other small CUV out there. It's like they all use the same vehicle and just tack on a new front end.
The Santa Fe, after having been an absolute styling disaster since the beginning, has finally come of age. It looks better that the Lexus RS and half-way to challenging the icons: Jeep, Land Rover, Audi, BMW. At half the price of the segment standard-bearers, it should be a knockout!
Wow I can't believe my eyes! Hyundai is definitely on a roll!!
Another hit!
Vince u have an affinity for Nissans, thus your approval of this design. It is on profile, 100% nissan styling. Maybe, dont be so quick to give hyundai/kia credit for their borrowed design???
yeah! appears that they kept the murano magic formula (a great 5-seater rather than forcing the 7-passenger arrangement).
now my next shortlist has grown back to 3 – jeep gc, n-murano and h-sf.
This used to be a fun site to come to each day. Now I am assaulted by a sea of ads on top and both sides. It is no longer a car site but a vehicle for advirtising.
Very sad.
"Maybe, dont be so quick to give hyundai/kia credit for their borrowed design???"
So what if it is a borrowed design? Look at Acura, which does not listen to the market and cannot snap out of their stupid looking grille(although toned down recently.)In fact, Kia hired away the Audi designer and Huyndai recently hired someone from BMW. These guys are serious and it shows everyday on the roads.
This is a good looking SUV. Period.
Good looking Car. Looking more like a Kia than a Hyundai. Looks like Hyundai is becoming jealous of the bastard step-brother having better designs!
I really like the front – very blocky and masculine. And the grill reminds me of the new CRVs a bit. I just wish the rear matched it a bit more. That front on a raised car meant to take on the Subaru Outback would be amazing.
Been there, done that type of look, cheap copy of better vehicles. Kia/ Hyundai are really for cheap cu~#s. blue collared, 9-5, no ambition types.
I see the Hyundai shills are out in full force. This is bland and unoriginal, even as an artistic rendering.
The new 2013 Santa Fe looks great and should increase sales for Hyundai.
I am really liking the direction of Hyundai's designs and no wonder, their success with consumers has improved their bottom line like never before.
This will be a definite sales success for them!
Looks good, but it's not the SUV that I've noticed.
The exuberant applause from many of the comments are part of a paid social outreach, and not entirely of genuine fans. Hyundai and another foreign automaker have this type of social outreach of paid offshore "micro workers" that fills blogs and reviews with positive comments or negative comments against the competition. The government has been slow to get involved, and probably should not get involved, but readers have the right to know what's going on.
A social outreach plan is fine, but not this kind of fakery.
remember, when you judge a company solely by sales success or sales numbers (GM), it has no bearing on what you are getting. GM outsold everyone forever, and did that with pure garbage vehicles. Hyundai, in my humble opinion, is following in their footsteps. I say, sell all the cars you want, if you trick someone once, you certainly won't a second time.
"….Kia/ Hyundai are really for cheap cu~#s. blue collared, 9-5, no ambition types."
You are projecting again!
"It is on profile, 100% nissan styling."
Hello. My name is jtz. So you want some 100% of something. Lets bring it. Ignoring that the 2013 Versa hatch is 100% Mazda 3.. Igorning that the Sentra's greenhouse is Mazda 3 sedan's. Ignoring that the INFINTI EX is 100% 2009 Subaru Impreza hatch greenhouse (also Mazda CX-5). But because the Sante Fe is Korean ONLY THE Hyundai is the copy.
"GM outsold everyone forever, and did that with pure garbage vehicles. Hyundai, in my humble opinion, is following in their footsteps"
Ignoring GM had to let Saab, Hummer Olds, Pontaic (Hyundai took them out) and Saturn (Kia took them out) go. Yet Toyota still has Lexus, Scion and Subaru and Hyundai still has Kia.
I'm jtz have a nice day.
"Kia/ Hyundai are really for cheap cu~#s. blue collared, 9-5, no ambition types"
Ignoring that Iszuzu, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Satrn are/were cheap too and 2 out of 4 of them are dead.
One thing you're forgetting Mr.

Ignoring that Iszuzu, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Satrn are/were cheap too and 2 out of 4 of them are dead," is that the dead companies you mentioned paid very little attention to relevant design. Kia and to a lesser point Hyundai are working very hard to bring world-class industrial design to affordable, technologically savvy products.
I am really quite amused by some of the "know it alls" that pronounce anything produced by Hyundai as a "copy of this or that "or "unoriginal". Whatever.
These "experts" are quick to point out how some other automaker that sold too many cars couldn't deliver on quality. Well guess what?
Today's buyers are more armed than ever before with more information about any vehicle out there thanks to you guess it? The internet.
The bottom line: Hyundai vehicles are selling and more and more people are buying more and more of them year after year after year, than Toyota's and Honda's.
Want to take a guess as to why? Because Hyundai is building good looking, quality cars and people buy quality and good looks and they tell their friends and families.
Hyundai sales will continue to grow because they are well built vehicles with excellent value and all come with a very good warranty.
You don't like Hyundai? Fine that's your problem but get used to seeing a lot more consumers buying Hyundais and seeing more and more of them on the road.
Yeah, they're that good!
Here here! well said.
if you trick someone once, you certainly won't a second time.
Not true at all. GM is once again the world's largest automaker. The company that made the EDSEL is one of the world's most successful companies to date. And as Toyota enters a new round of "death by sudden acceleration" lawsuits (this time with Lexus Models in California) it's sales are starting to pick up. Most people are ignorant creatures of habit–even those who are Dr.s and Lawyers and Civil Engineers.
Clearly, you can fool someone a 2nd time. And a 3rd and a fourth and a fifth.
As for Hyundai/Kia, if you think they aren't GM, Toyota & Volkswagens biggest worry then you really don't have a clue. That's a fact I will admit to, even though I've never owned a Hyundai/Kia and have no plans to ever buy one. But the reality is that the Koreans are a major force in the world automotive economy and they aren't going away in our lifetime. Face it!
am i the only one who thinks this looks just like the new escape?
"am i the only one who thinks this looks just like the new escape?"
Probably. The profile reminds me a little of the RX and the smaller Tucson. But, may be I am the only one…..

Exactly.
Thanks for actually having some intelligence.
I laugh at the people who call others "paid shills". You know it is possible to actually like a vehicle and praise it without being a shill, right? Or is that concept above your head?
So ifGM is so successful why did it need a bailout? Plus if it is so successful why you American fanboys keep saying "buy American?"
