New Mitsubishi Concepts
Last Updated:
Mitsubishi is pretty desperate to prove they are still alive. To that end, they are bringing 3 new concepts to the Tokyo auto show this year.
And they are all really weird…
First, this big one. The Concept GC-PHEV. (GC is for “Grand Cruiser). That looks like a weird version of their current Pajero/Montero. It is powered by a 3.0 Liter V8 and 8 speed auto.
In my opinion, it tries way too hard to look futuristic. And ends up quite vulgar.
(Which actually might be a good thing for a large SUV these days…)
Next is the Concept AR. (AR is for “Active Runabout”).
A hybrid powered by an electric motor and a new 1.1 Liter Turbo engine. It seats 7.
This looks like it wants to compete with the Nissan Juke. The Concept XR. (XR stands for “Crossover Runner”)
Also powered by the 1.1 Liter engine.
I think all of these look quite goofy. And a bit old. Like concepts from the 90’s.
But, if they were in dealership right now, at least they would give Mitsubishi something that stands out in a crowd.
Unfortunately, if ever produced, they will be toned way down. And the whole process will take years…
They need good, modern stuff right now.
Throw sh##t at the wall and see what sticks.
I bet these are all just mockups, nothing even inside them…Poor Mitsu.
Looks like the 3 Stooges…
What I see here are Montero, Endeavor, and Outlander.
What they need is a new GALANT.
After years of building complete crap, this is the nail in Mitsu's coffin. For these to see the light of day, there is something wrong with the culture at Mitsubishi.
Japanese cars and SUVs from Mitsubishi and Toyota have become highly popular in all parts of world, so the British car sellers consider it necessary to import cars for sale and make their customers happy.
