2016 Chevrolet Cruze
Last Updated:
There is, finally, an all new Cruze coming.
And it does look quite nice. At least from these pictures.
It does fit nicely next to the new Malibu and Impala. Which now gives Chevrolet 3 nice looking sedans.
engines will probably be smaller Turbos. Competing with the new Civic which is getting a new 1.5 Liter Turbo for the next year.
Here is another picture of the 2016 Volt. Based on the same platform. You can see the similarities. More than ever, the Volt now looks like a hatchback, slightly more modern version of the Cruze.
And here is the Chinese version of the new Cruze. Unveiled last year.
Just like GM said, the US car is not the same. Which is great news.
As this Chinese model looks much cheaper. And quite convoluted next to the US version.
The Volt looks downright hot next to its narrow little butt. And the Volt is generic except for a few tacked on bits.
I don't get how anyone thinks this is gorgeous, or that "GM is back." While at least it looks like it's from this decade, it's not as sharp as a five year old Civic.
Different–not better. More generic, to be sure. I liked the current one MUCH better. We already have waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many generic 4dr fastback thingys on the road: Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Avalon, Corolla, Civic, Dart, 200, Verano, Sonata, MKZ, the newest Lexus Generics, 3GT, A7, Volt, new Legacy, Mazda6, etc.etc.etc.
Looking really sharp, classy, and upscale; a first for a Chevrolet compact sedan. It's the perfect little sibling to the beautiful current Impala and stunning upcoming Malibu.
The Volt is now the best looking of them all..
they all look like a hyundai – Fail

Not even the current Civic is nearly as sharp as a 5-year old Civic.
Hope this is true with the Ford Taurus, hope that just remains the Chinese Taurus. This looks real nice, I would have thought this was a new Honda Civic.
The Cruze does look a bit like a Hyundai. The trunk looks a bit small and droopy too. The Volt however, looks fantastic from the side, possibly a bit pointy at the front….
Why not just use the same body for both? Pointy front for the Volt,'family' style split grill for the Cruze.

Adding to his comment: Passat, Infinti M, Nissan Altima, BMW GT, Honda Crosstour, Acura ZDX, next genration Chevy Malibu, 2016 Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Genesis, 2017 Kia Cadezna, 2017 Ford Taurus, Nissan Sentra, HOnda HR-V. Did I mess anything?
