2020 Ram 1000
Last Updated:
The 1000 is a new compact pick-up truck from Ram.
It is basically the same truck as the Fiat Toro, sold in south america for a few years.
And I think it looks pretty cool
It is also not being considered for the US.
Why not?
I think this is a mistake. Not everyone (even here) wants a huge truck. The new crop of “not really compact ” trucks like the Colorado and Ranger are not that compact anymore.
And they are also pretty expensive.
I really think there is a market for something like this over here.
It is alreayd being built and sold. And it is based on the Jeep Renegade platform.
I am sure a small “lifestyle” pick-up for under $25 000 could find buyres in the US.
And FCA would be the first to offer one.
Ford is also working on a small pick-up based on the new “not for the US” Focus.
Which is also not considered for the US. Yet….
Is this a joke?
Looks good, but not at all "Ram Tough." Looks more Asian, if anything.
This is exactly what I looking for a real “compact” size pickup truck that is 190” or less. I need a truck that I can park in the urban/city parking spaces and in my garage. It is too bad the domestic do not want to sell that size anymore in the U.S. market. Toyota Helix or Hundai ill have to be the ones that offers that back a real compact size pickup back into the U.S. market.
Has been sold for years in Mexico branded as a Dodge, not a Fiat.
This is exactly what the next wave of small pickups will be. You've got the Hyundai Santa Cruz coming eventually, and the Ford Courier. Can we get rear facing seats in the bed like an old Subaru Brat?
Let's admit it out loud. It is ugly. Go for it Harry_Mild. You have bought so many cars in this blog, even Jay Leno can no longer compete.
And the nail in the coffin sinks just a little more.

Not going to be sold in U.S. as point out in last line of this article! I am not able to buy it sorry to say!
For the folks calling it ugly, I'll admit it looks a little strange.
Have you considered that simply swapping out the plastic grille and rubber front bumper cover is all it needs? Changing out the front clip would be child's play.
Does not look as good as the 1500.
I agree with you Vince. There is a market for this size and if its already built on the Renegade chassis its seems to me it would NOT be a big effort to bring it on board. Call it the Ram Rampage 🙂 If people by Kia Souls and Jukes, there is no reason not to have this too. Sales of the Dodge Rampage and the Subaru Baja were never very good but if you put a real US Ram 1500 face on that, it would look pretty good. As another poster said not everyone wants a big truck and can afford to put gas into it.
Should be, but I don't think so.
