2026 VW Atlas.

Last Updated:

There is finally an all-new VW Atlas just around the corner, and here it is.

As you can see from the photos above, this is actually the Chinese market version of the Atlas, called the Teramont. Currently, the Atlas and Teramont look exactly the same and what we see here is the same car we’ll see soon in the US as the new 2026 VW Atlas.

The Teramont is produced in China for the local market. The Atlas is built in Tennesse for all other markets including North America, Mexico, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa.

We have already seen many camouflaged spy shots of the new VW SUV, and the profile isn’t really a surprise. But the front end is. It looks like nothing I had expected. All I can say is that at least it looks different. And there is no huge ghastly grille which is a big improvement. At the same time, there is plenty of shiny plastic trim all over that new front end. Like if the piano black interior trim had escaped and invaded the exterior.

Besides the obviously new front design, the profile looks a lot like a cross between the current Atlas, the new Buick Enclave, and the Toyota Grand Highlander. it would basically be impossible from the side view to tell what this is.

We first saw the Atlas design back in 2013 as the CrossBlue concept. While the reproduction car was introduced 3 years later. And it never really looked modern. Especially inside where most of the interior was already dated and felt pretty cheap. It was revised a few years ago and improved a bit.

From the photos above, you can already tell the new Atlas will be getting the giant center-screen tablet that is just stuck there, looking like it doesn’t belong with the rest of the interior. Just like in the ID-Buzz, the new European Passat, and Tiguan. And all other new VW models coming out.

Since the Chinese version is already “out”, I suspect we will be seeing the new Atlas pretty soon. Even if it isn’t available until 2025…
