2025 VW Taos.
Last Updated:
The VW Taos is getting a few changes for the 2025 model year.
Up front, there is an all-new face. Something a bit more original but also something we are now seeing in all new VWs. Who is making sure all their cars and SUVs look the same.
The rear-end changes are limited to the lights. Even the bumpers are exactly the same as before.
Inside, the changes seem similar to the 2025 Jetta. Where the screen is not as well integrated as before and it now has the dreaded tablet sticking on top of the dash. Again, just like any other VW models from the past few years. That screen is now a bit larger at 8 inches. The rest of the interior seems to be the same except for the climate control buttons.
Under the hood, you will find the same old 1.5 Liter Turbo. It has an additional 16HP for a total of 174HP. All models now have an 8-speed Automatic.
Since it came out, I have only seen a few Taos on the road. Maybe 3 or 4. I guess they are not as popular as their competition where I live. However, VW still sold over 58,000 of them in the US last year. Although only about 32,000 so far this year. I really don’t think any of the changes we see above will bring new customers to the VW Taos.
That compares with over 122,000 units of the popular Honda HR-V. With Honda expected to soon add a Hybrid version, the HR-V will probably become even more popular.
The Toyota Corolla Cross already offers a Hybrid model and yet, only sold around 64,000 units in the US last year. Which is quite surprising. It seems that after all, an unattractive design like the Corolla Cross is indeed affecting sales.
Who knew?
Everything about equal, except the stuck on tablet sucks. Meh…
