Cadillac Large EV sedan.

Last Updated:

Cadillac has been working on 2 new sedans based on the Ultium platform. The illustration above shows what the larger model could look like.

All we know about these 2 new models is from a rumor from a few months ago. It basically only describes the 2 cars as fastback sedans. Which is what the original Cadillac Escala concept was, back in 2016. And yes, that was almost 10 years ago…

I posted an illustration of what the smaller compact model could look like earlier. The larger model would basically be an EV replacement for the good old CT6 sedan, which was a great car. A new generation of the CT6 is still on sale in China, but nowhere else.

Cadillac won’t be alone in the large EV sedan business. While the crazy $340,000 Celestiq sedan is indeed a large Cadillac EV sedan, it doesn’t count. Since it is only competing with Rolls Royce. What Cadillac needs is something that can go against the BMW i7 and Mercedes EQS. As well as the upcoming Jaguar EV sedan and the one from Audi.

It probably won’t be a best seller but it will at least be many times more popular than the eCelestiq. Cadillac also needs to wake up and price the new sedan accordingly which means bellow Mercedes and BMW. As it should be.

Of course, such a model might only be sold in China where sedans are still a thing for many buyers. However, if they can come up with something great looking, I am sure they could find enough buyers in North America as well.

I would think we might see a concept or two before the final thing. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint…

  1. This render is is giving too much Kia K5 in the profile. It looks good, but doesn’t scream Cadillac as it should.
