Jaguar EV Sedan.

Last Updated:

Finally! We finally get to see something, anything, about the upcoming all-new Jaguar EV sedan.

The 2 spy shots above actually show a really weird-looking prototype if you ask me. However, the long hood and short rear end are a nice throwback to older Jaguar proportions, which would be great.

The 3rd image is a teaser Jaguar showed us back in April 2023. Yes, over a year ago!

The 4th image is an illustration of what the new EV Jag could look like. However, the proportions of the actual prototype do look quite different.

It seems Jaguar’s path to electrification has been a tumultuous one.

Back in 2020, they were testing prototypes of an upcoming XJ EV sedan. In a very surprising move, it was canceled just weeks before its official unveiling (Wouldn’t we like to see what it looked like…).

Jaguar then claimed they had scrapped that platform and were now planning a much better one. 3 years later, we saw the first and only teaser (3rd image) of their new upcoming EV based on the new platform. And again, nothing since. Except for the news that all their current models were being canceled to focus on the new EVs.

Recently Jaguar announced they would stop selling cars for a whole year. I guess until the new EV becomes available. Now we are told a concept of that new sedan will be shown on December 2nd in Florida. Of all places…

A car that was originally rumored to cost around $120,000.The prototype spy shots we see today are of course the production version of the concept we will be seeing next month. A car that was originally rumored to cost around $120,000. Since of course, Jaguar is moving upmarket. At least that was the plan last year…

I hope at this price these new Jags do look fantastic. It won’t be that hard to look better than the BMW i7 or Mercedes EQS, but they need to do much better.

There is hope, I guess…

  1. This is the 4-door GT coming up, and it’s beautifully and elegantly proportioned! It appears quite large, too! Now, I’m looking more forward to the upcoming SUV and even larger stately sedan!!

  2. I think it’s just disconnected enough to gain popularity. No one really knows what Jaguar is anymore. Best of luck!

  3. I hope it doesn’t look like the AI Jaguar. Frankly I hope almost none of these AI renderings posted are anywhere near reality.

If this is a massive sedan that’s ultra-stylish and will appeal to the Range Rover crowd, it’ll be a success. Almost every Range Rover driver has a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7er as their other car. It would not be difficult to come up with a more emotionally compelling vehicle, but it really needs to hinge on style. STYLE is how Jaguar can differentiate itself.

The aborted Jaguar EV looks like an Audi EV. It would’ve been anonymous. This car won’t. It’s following the Chrysler 300 playbook at a higher price point and guess what: that works.

Chrysler is dumb for getting away from all of their winning formulas. Neon? PT Cruiser? 300? Sebring Convertible? They just underinvest and milk them as long as they can and then struggle to figure their shit out. Jaguar can’t afford to do that!
