2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
Last Updated:
Just as promised a while ago, an all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio is on its way. And today we are getting the first official teaser.
The top photo shows the new teaser while the bottom image is an illustration from Ale Masera. An educated guess from a few weeks ago. Something that might turn out to be very close to the real thing.
The V-shaped rear lights will be quite controversial when the car comes out. Apparently, this could be an homage to some older Alfa models from the 1960s.
The new Stelvio should be based on the STLA large platform. Already used by the 2025 Dodge Charger and Jeep Wagoneer S. A new Chrysler SUV as well as the Jeep Recon will also be using that same platform soon.
Just like most other models based on that platform, the next-generation Stelvio was supposed to be an EV-only molded. Now there are talks about a V6 version being available as well. At least in some markets.
Speaking about markets, the Stelvio is pretty far from being a hit in the US. While its best year was its first full year in 2018 with 12,000 sold in the US that number went down to 5338 last year. And 2365 so far this year. It makes you wonder if a new one is even worth it. I remember after the slow-selling Giulia sedan came out, they had high hopes for the SUV version in the US. Stelvio was seen as the savior of the brand.
Not only a new one is desperately needed, but it will take a fortune to actually let people in North America know that a new Alfa is coming. And that the brand is still around in the first place.
