Tesla Model Y !

Last Updated:

These are official photos of the revised Tesla Model Y for 2025.

We had seen so many spy shots and illustrations for most of last year that there were no big surprises. To me, the main surprise is how well the new front end works with the older body design. I think the designers found a really nice way to bring the old Model Y closer to newer Tesla designs like the Cybertruck but especially the Cybercab.

However, the rear end looks a bit odd. The side part of the light hasn’t changed from the older model and it doesn’t really fit the new rear light design very well. Maybe it looks better in real life…

Inside it’s pretty much everything we all expected. With all the changes from the revised Molde 3. Except the door panels are quite different from the Molde 3 (The last photo is a Molde 3 interior). Otherwise, everything else looks about the same.

I also like to see these silver wheels available instead of the default black wheels the Model Y currently offers. These are actually optional 20-inch wheels, while the black 19-inch versions are still standard.

I also noticed the optional blue color is all new. And much lighter than the current blue.

As expected, the ride is said to be smoother and the powertrain more efficient. Apparently there the EV range is also longer, by about 19 miles for the AWD version to 24 miles for the RWD. As far as the price, the new ModelY costs about 5% more in China. In the US the RWD Model Y is currently priced at $45,000. A 5% increase would bring it to $47,240. Not cheap. However, the models pictured above are called “Launch Series” in China. This means they might have some extra features of trim that won’t be available in other models. These 2 Launch Series versions will be available in March.

Of course, the Model Y is always pretty loaded, but it’s getting close to $50,000. Right where most of its competition is. If Tesla can keep the lease payments at $299 a month like they are now this could be extremely competitive.

No word on the longer wheelbase model for China or a larger battery yet. And of course, no word on these future cheaper new models either…
