Tesla Model Y recap.
Last Updated:
We have seen illustrations of the revised Tesla Model Y since the Highland Model 3 came out last year.
Most were showing what everyone was expecting. Which is a Model Y with the front and rear ends of the revised Model 3. And the same interior.
It started when we first saw a photo of the new Model Y center console taken at the Chinese factory. Since we’ve seen actual spy shots of Model Y prototypes driving around. These have been caught around the world. Since the Model Y is built in the US, Germany, and China.
Then we saw some close-up shots of a rear light bar shot under the covers. And an interior shot as well, showing a very similar interior to the revised Model 3 But also some different speaker placement.
That light bar discovery changed all the new illustrations we had seen before. As it seems the new front end will look much more like the Cybertruck or a Cybercab, than the revised Model 3. Newer illustrations like the one above reflect these recent findings.
Unlike the revised 2024 Model 3, the 2025 Model Y is also rumored to get a new larger battery at least as an option. The new unit would be about 10% larger than what is currently offered.
At least in China, the revised Model Y could also be offered in a longer wheelbase version with a real 3rd-row seat. This means 6 or 7 seats could be available (6 with captain-style chairs). That could broaden the appeal of the Model Y in the US as well. Since Tesla has nothing to offer between the Model Y and the $80,000 Model X.
The Model Y came out 5 years ago. Some kind of a refresh is badly needed especially after the 2024 revised Model 3 which now has a better interior and is more comfortable to drive.
The Y is still hugely popular around the world, and any changes to it will be eagerly awaited by the earth masses.
It seems the revised Model 3 has not been selling that great. We’ll see if changes to the Model Y will help the 5-year-old model stay on top of the charts…
I’d never buy anything from Elmo
