2026 Volvo S90.

Last Updated:

While a brand new Volvo ES90 sedan will be unveiled in just a few days, the good old S90 isn’t dead yet.

It looks like it is getting ready for some pretty major visual changes. At least the front and rear ends of the cars are completely redesigned. Which is more than what Volvo did with the recent 2025 XC90.

The model pictured here is the one for the Chinese market. Where the S90 is built. And it is the PHEV T8 trim. It seems the powertrain will not be changed and still includes the 2.0 Liter Turbo.

It could also be the only country where the revised S90 will be sold. Since the upcoming ES90 EV will be sold outside of China. And probably at least in Europe.

The Volvo S90 started production back in 2016. And quite amazingly, it still looks really good today, inside and out. It is still available in the US with a starting price of $59,500. With the PHEV mode starting at $6000 more. Not cheap. Leasing is even worse since the PHEV model is almost $200 a month more than the regular trim.

No wonder this is not a popular car in the US. With only 1451 sold in 2023. And almost 40,000 sold in China alone that same year.

I guess 40,000 units a year makes it worthwhile for Volvo to redesign a few things and keep the car around for a few more years. While the new ES90 takes off.
