While we just saw BMW‘s new “Vision Driving Experience”, these new spy shots are showing us the real next-generation BMW 3 series sedan.
Which does seem like a cross between the Neue Klasses sedan concept and the BMW 5 series. Especially the C-pillar, where the small metallic trim behind the rear side window seems to also be there on the next 3.
The Neue Klasse design could come to production as the new BMW i3 sedan. While the “regular” 3 series might be based on a totally different platform. That would make the i3 roomier than the next 3 series since its new EV platform will allow for a longer wheelbase.
This basically means the next 3 series could end up looking like a smaller 5 series. As usual. Which I guess is what the brand faithful buyers want. For those who will be looking for something truly modern, the new i3 will be the real new BMW to get.
At least, the Neue Klass influence means the end of the ever-growing grille. Especially the current ghastly “Bug Bunny teeth” style grill we have on the recurrent 4 series and others.
Which would be a good thing.
