Chrysler Imperial.

Last Updated:

Stellantis seems to finally have big plans for Chrysler. We already know a brand new mid-sized SUV comes first. With both hybrid and EV powertrains. Then a heavily revised Pacifica minivan and an EV version later.

Cheyerl has also dropped a few hints about a possible new sedan based on the Halcyon concept. Something to replace the good old Chrysler 300.

But what if the brand decided to go a bit upmarket? Stellantis wants Chrysler to experiment with segments not represented by any of their other brands. A really large, luxury sedan for the US would be a very nice way to ‘experiment”.

The illustration shows a retro-futuristic design of a very large sleek new sedan. One that both reminds us of the Chrysler Concorde and LHS from the late 1990s. With a few older design cues added for good measure. Which is what Lee Iacocca started doing in the 80s. Something that wasn’t for everyone but still turned out to be very, very popular for many years.

A brand new Chrysler Imperial that would look as decadent as they used to.

In a world of bigger and bigger SUVs, a large luxury sedan wouldn’t be out of place at all. The new 2025 Dodge Charger EV is over 206 inches long. Which is about the same as a Mercedes S-Class. Just adding a few inches would produce one impressive-looking sedan. One that could still be much more affordable than its competition from Germany. A large luxury STLA-based EV sedan competing with the Lucid Air, Mercedes EQS, and BMW i7. For less…

I’ve posted a few illustrations showing future large Cadillac and Lincoln sedans, but a Chrysler would have to be less expensive, just like Chryslers are supposed to be. The brand does have quite a glorious past and I think it’s time to use some of it for inspiration for a few future models.

Meanwhile, we’ll probably never see one of these again. And if we ever see another Chrysler Imperial, it will probably be a huge SUV competing with the Cadillac Escalade, and not a real sedan…

  1. I would love to see a brand new

    CHRYSLER IMPERIAL WITH SOME OF
IT’S OLDER FEATSHERS THE BACK WINDOW ROLLING DOWN AND UP AND OTHER FEATURES FROM THE PAST, I WOULD LOVE TO COME TO THE PLANT AND GIVE YOUR YOUNGER DESIGNERS ON HOW THE THE OLD CAN BECOME NEW WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK.

  2. Fantastic idea ! Now, you’ll need a Chrysler NewYorker to fill the entire void.

  3. I think the horn should be a trumpet playing “LA Cucaracha” as in a Simpsons episode.

  4. I owned a 1975 imperial and it had everything. The leather inside was perfect and the paint wad flawless. 4 wheel disc brakes. Air suspension. 8 yrack. Auto dim lights. Cornering lamps. I also have a 1968 imperial.aoto climate control. Tilt- teloscopic stearing wheel. Cruise control. I loved that car. Sooth quite ride

  5. I agree. A beautiful modern rendition of my gorgeous Char-Gold 1994 Chrysler LHS/New Yorker. This is a stunning design.

  6. It has a great outside look but what about the bells and whistles of a luxury car but the price of a economic car.

  7. This car is so Top A awesome and beautiful. I would love to own this car.!

  8. NICE design but unless this is going to be used for limousine business, it will never sell. This obviously is one of the 6 airflow designs from a few years ago . Nice try for the article clicks though. Chrysler is better known for luxurious, big engine cars.

  9. The Chrysler brands need to be taken away from Stellantis. The majority of buyers don’t want EVs, period. Older technology than internal combustion engines.

  10. Quality quality and quality
Very simple recipe but every American car manufacturer doesn’t seem to get it.
If the model sales is poor due to quality, they drop it and introduce another junk and let the Japanese taking over that sector.
    SAD!!!

  11. Chrysler invented the minivan. Guess where they are now? Dead last!!!
Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna dominated that market, and soon we’ll have Kia Carnival.
    Similarly with the midsize sedan
    Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
    American quality sucks!!!
    SAD!!!

  12. That’s because the US corporations found out that other countries will put the vehicles together cheaper than the American people. Add that to the cheaper parts that those other countries manufactured and you got your self a brand new POS built at a quarter cost of MSRP. Don’t worry though. We are all F.S.L.A. Fat. Stupid. Lazy. Americans so we will gladly pick one of the dealers price payment options, not actually doing the math on any option, and have to pay for the vehicle long after it has broken down.

  13. The Imperial was not a Chrysler Imperial, The Imperial was separate to Chrysler but used the same engines and driveline remember that. Imperial is the bigger, longer and more luxurious than the Chrysler New Yorker etc. The Imperial should’ve been the Maque to compete with Mercedes Maybach S-class with a V12 petrol engine.

  14. Between my father and I, over the years we owned over 20 Imperials. If it wasn’t an Imperial, we didn’t buy it from a 1957 and 1960 convertible up thru the last convertibles of 1967 & 1968. My last was a 1974 two door which was lovely. I was devastated when the Imperial was eliminated from production. I only wish I had one of them now.
